Back in Leeds to point out the state of ebike riders riding practices for the big food delivery apps a few years after a man was killed by an ebike riding food delivery rider.

Anything changed? A lot of these ebike riders delivering food for the big 3 food delivery apps are clearly breaking U.K. ebike law in 2025.

Look at the size of that. Do you ever get stopped? What’s it throwing out? What’s the power? 2,000 watt. Quick enough. I got a fork similar to that on my ebike. Let’s see how fast it is. Oh, gone. What’s your top speed on it then? Just with one wheel. It’s one wheel. Look at the spin. Look at that. [Music] This is just one wheel. This is dual motor. Oh, it’s obviously dual motor. Jesus. I’ll be able to get a free drink here. Can I get a free drink? I’ll go with my other free drink from down the road. Thank you, ladies. So, it’s definitely definitely quieter this week. I mean, I’d say like there was a just a third of the amount of what there was last week. So, whether somebody’s been down here filming, or that could be me, or whether the police have turned up and actually done something about it, I don’t know. But it’s a start. sat here drinking my free beverage that I got in the center of town. One of two free beverages and it’s quite nice. So there’s that sign about this mountain. So, I come back down last week and not a lot was going on. It was really quiet as you saw. So, I’ve come back down again this week and it’s a Friday, so it’s coming out to 25 to 1 and we’re going to see what the activity is like at lunchtime. usual suspects. Just for context, this is the Queen’s Hotel in Leads and behind that is the train station. This is where I’ve been hanging out because there’s a cycle ain’t it. Goes through the center of Le. So yeah, like no pedaling and he’s definitely doing over 15 miles an hour. I’m going to stay here at the moment. straight away when we came out. Probably the trade now not even on the cycle puff. Look. So, I just want to mention again that it’s not down to it’s not these go guys faults really. It’s not the fault of these riders because they’re in the same boat as anybody like me and you. If you could earn double the money by having a faster ebike, what would you do? And that’s the thing, you can’t really blame them. But what you can blame are the apps like Deliveroo, um the apps like Deliveroo, Uber Eats, you know, Eat Me or whatever it is. You blame them because that’s the platform that’s sending them the work. You can’t I still can’t blame these poor guys doing it. I do blame the guys that are riding illegally, bikes on here illegally. Well, again, that’s down to the apps, isn’t it? It’s not down to them. What would you do if you were in a foreign country and you wanted to earn some money? Exactly. No pedaling, even uphill. And some of you argued the toss that they could be using the cruise control, but a lot of them have to stop on the way in here and sort of break for the public. And as soon as you hit the brakes, well, your cruise control cuts off. Looks like R. Kelly on an illegal scooter glued together in somebody’s bedroom somewhere. [Music] See bralet and he’s off. You can’t really do call that the fact that he’s using cruise control, can you again? Look, no pedaling. Uber Eatats. That’s where we’ve been over here. We turn around and we come up here. There are police in Leads. Well, a police van anyway sat behind those barriers of peace. And behind it, that curved glass building, it’s where I had my first job. I was a traininee chartered surveyor at Weatherwall, Hollis, and Gale. Yeah. a police van here, but not a lot going on. I mean, let’s be honest, facial recognition is going to struggle to pick up that dude’s face on it. I mean, that’s why they do it. So, now it says we’re entering pedestrian zones. So, it’s a very busy Friday afternoon in Leeds and normally down here it’s a gaggle of delivery riders which there’s normally more than two so they must all be busy today. But yeah. Yeah. If I had got a 2000 W motor on controller on the back, not the best battery either, but he’s dead. Oh yeah, the build. There’s another 2,000 W motor there. But 750 W motor I mean the fight’s totally illegal. So I won’t film your face. I don’t know why these two are watching this man have a [ __ ] but art. There we go. We’re just coming up to the please dismount sign. There’s a please dismount sign there. And obviously that don’t apply to food delivery riders. Is that support officers doing whatever they do? So at both ends of this street there’s a dismounted busy times sign. Now I consider this busy. You know there’s people walking a breast. There’s no no real space to get a bike through, is there? Let’s take a mooch down here. Let’s see if we can make it to the end without seeing a delivery rider coming up through here. No, we failed. I can see one in the distance. Here we go. This guy here. Look on. Well, no paddling was done today. Well, obviously he don’t speak English. So, here’s the thing. The law says ignorance of the law is not an excuse. So, I don’t know if this is the same lady that’s normally in Manchester that uh it’s very good. What is it for? So basically um well at least they stopped for the lights. I see a lone police officer walking up here. First one I’ve seen today. Looks like he’s off somewhere. Oh, giving out directions. Well, I’ve pretty much covered the whole of Leadeds today. Well, the whole of Leads Center and he’s the first one I’ve seen. But yeah, you feel lonely. You’re the only one I’ve seen today. down the middle. So obviously over here you got your Subway, your McDonald’s over there and just having a nap. Sugar rush obviously from his coke. Obviously off duty. There’s normally loads up here. Look, it’s like the big battery I’ve got on the back of mine. gag of delivery riders here. All 750 W motors. Look, one sort of resting over there on the barriers of peace. See, how can he be pedaling and going uphill at 8 or 9 miles an hour without breaking the law? very relaxed style to ride in. So, these dismount signs are all over the pedestrian area and it says fixed penalties apply, but when there’s nobody around to enforce the penalties, there’s one zooming up there. Look, very quickly, when there’s nobody around to enforce these fixed penalties. What’s the point? Here we go. Look, no one hit way. Hello. Cuz I can. Where do you mean? I’m allowed to film. Film what I want. UK to film me. I can film you because you’re in public. You can film anything in public you want. So, red back into the center of town again. And another one. I like that. But again, this is a pedestrian area. None of that should be cycling around here. We go. No pedaling required. See there’s a guy here pushing his bike through the center of town. Bless him. But you know what I mean? It’s just free for all for anyone else. And then straight into the pedestrian area where says over there, please dismount. say they’re illegal. That’s good going, isn’t it? Obviously, he didn’t have to dismount or whatever that is. It is, you know, should be and no idea where she’s going. All right. It’s an E Ninja. Which brings me back to do you actually know who’s delivering your your food to you? Because I couldn’t spot him in a lineup unless he was attached to a bike. I’m wearing exactly the same clothes. It’s the same here. Look. Please don’t tell me he’s got cruise control on. I haven’t got a [ __ ] clue what that thing is. And we won’t be pedaling today. At least he was wearing an arm. There’s some police there. Look. So, I’ll do me final bit to camera. Keep saying it. I don’t blame these poor sods for doing it. I’d do it if I needed money. But, and all day all I saw was like two, well, one actual police officer and two PTSOs and that was it. All the leads. I walked around the center of leads probably one and a half times. And as I said about those signs, they’re there, but there’s nobody to enforce it. So, what’s the point? Is it going to take another accident like what happened before and somebody dies? Because, you know, that’s what I think it’s going to take. Um, and as I sign off, you know, just before I go, there you go. Till next week.

  1. I am a rider myself, and I am getting boiled just in a shirt and shorts when I see them people in full face coverings, hoodies on, so they are getting toasty but their food bags fully open with orders inside getting cold. Until Police won't enforce the law nothing will change. Great video as always. Greetings from North Yorks.

  2. A great expose of the problem in our cities with (by a massive margin) these food delivery bikes 👍
The problem is when a newsworthy accident does happen, the politicians are going to all jump on the anti-eBike agenda, and all legal eBike riders are going to be hit with new restrictions or total bans 🤦🏻‍♀
Have you thought about contacting Leeds Council about this issue – as in fairness they do appear to be pretty proactive on encouraging cycling in and around the city.
Google would indicate that Councillor Jonathan Pryor, Deputy Leader of Leeds City Council and Executive Member for Economy, Transport, and Sustainable Development might be the guy to get in contact with – or at least email him the link to your videos.

  3. British people are forced to obey the law if you are not British you can do whatever you like! Looks like the British citizen are brain dead, not noticing these things and speaking out. You could stop this tomorrow if you stopped eating junk food DELIVERED BY AN ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT!!!!! But you have become too bl00dy lazy and apathetic and will need your b*ms wiped next. Wake up people!

  4. I don't understand the logic of this video. With the exception of 1/2 riders and that ridiculous moped scooter. None of them were going excessively fast and the near miss collision with the pedestrian was very low speed and could have been a manual bike leading to NO difference in outcome. Like what point are you trying to make here ??? Honestly

  5. I think the cops dont seize there bikes coz all there doing is putting more ppl on universal credit and possibly homeless if there landlord wont accept housing benefit 🤔

  6. If the police enforced the laws that distinguish between pedal assistance and motor-only e-bikes, maybe things would be better. Forcing the delivery companies to self-police might be one avenue: perhaps they should be legally liable for the delivery riders and every incident that happens, including collisions and benefit fraud.

  7. TBH, until trained police are put back onto the streets, to moderate, not fulfil 'crime figures', without that presence, and folk can look forwards to buying a house, in society, it's unlikely to improve. Talk to Thatcher about it.

  8. Technically I too am breaking the law as I own and ride a engine pro 2.0, which even locked to the legal 15.5mph still has a 750 watt motor, ok I live in a small town in rural Scottish Borders, and I don't deliver food or ride in busy town/City pedestrian only areas, I am 62 and wear a bike helmet and ride sensibly as in I don't use the throttle other than to sometimes assist from standing start for a second or two, but I'm still knowingly breaking the law. The laws on e-bikes need to change 20mph and the motor size can be whatever, Criminals don't care about laws and Idiots that don't respect the sign's or and speed limits are the real problem regardless of what their riding.
