Hey everyone,
I'm looking for a used road bike in the $1000–$2000 CAD range, and I recently found two options that caught my eye. I'd really appreciate your input on the models/brands.
I've been riding a cheap fixed gear (paid around $300) for a few years now, but it's no longer suited to my goals. I want to improve my overall performance, mainly in terms of speed and distance and I feel quite limited with a fixie, especially when it comes to versatility and cadence.
Here are the two bikes I'm considering:
- Cervélo S1 Carbon – SRAM Force – $1200 (prob. negotiable)
- 2018 Felt FR5 – Full carbon frame + Mavic carbon wheels – $1750 or 1200$ with original wheel set (prob. negotiable)
Both bikes seem to be in excellent shape and overall great condition.
I'm also wondering if the prices are reasonable.
Anyone have experience with these models or brands? The Cervélo seems more aggressive and aero-focused, while the Felt looks more endurance-oriented from what I dounf on the web. Any advice or things I should watch out for would be super helpful.
Thanks in advance! 🙂

If I’m not mistaken,
I think that generation of 105 on the felt is 11 speed and whatever, I can’t exactly see it, on the S1, looks like an older 10 speed.
I’d get the felt to have the extra gear, and it’s just kinda newer and probably more of a relaxed fit which you would probably want for your first road bike
the cervelo is the nicer bike imo although the felt is surely more relaxed and might be better for a beginner. If you get the chance i’d test ride both
Felt is fast but Im super bias and a beginner, I guess it definitely depends on fit, comfort and group set.
Cosmics are great wheels if it helps break a tie, can’t see what the other wheel set is
the felt purely bc the rims look newer – carbon rims with a carbon rim brake track don’t last forever
