The Eurovelo 1 – Vélodysée has been upgraded in Les Sables d’Ollone on the French Atlantic Coast. Where there was once simply a bike lane for the popular international route, there is now a wide, luxurious bike path, more space for pedestrians and no more cars. In this video, we give you our first hand experience whilst touring the West of France and encourage you to pass by here, too!

Hello fellow cyclists and bike travelers. We’re currently touring through the west of France and we’re always happy to be able to report on improvements for cycling. So we’ve got great news for you here. I’m slightly spaghetti and I’m Vera and we’re currently here in Leab Dolon. I hope I pronounced that correctly. Yes, which is actually quite famous for surfing. And if you have a look behind me here at the waves, it’s pretty windy out. You can understand why. But it’s also popular for cycling because the Eurova 1 leads right through here. And we’ve just stumbled across a great nuke bike path. Even though it’s really bad weather, there are people out cycling and enjoying themselves just like we are. We found out that this used to be a two-lane street with one side for cyclists and the other side for cars. And it’s been rebuilt now wonderfully. There’s ample space for cycling and loads of space for pedestrians now as well. And it’s these small incremental ch uh changes that don’t usually really get reported on on a wide scale, but make all the big difference that really count. And you can see this just makes this Eurovilla one all the more attractive for cycling through. It’s h very nice along here. I could really recommend it. We’ve been having a great time. Um, so it’s out for you to discover it and uh this part will make the experience all the better. We’re on the south side of the new stretch which is about a kilometer long and as you can see it’s just provisionally marked and is due to get finished in the last part of 2025. So it looks like it’s soon going to be even more attractive. They also want to add additional benches and trees. So, this is still work in progress. On the north side, it connects to the existing pathway, which isn’t bad, but narrower and more crowded than the new part. And I think we all agree, we got to get more people cycling, and having great cycle paths and lanes is uh just what we need. So, we’re always happy to see more improvements like this and we’ll be happy to report any further ones that we see just to keep you up to date on what’s going on across Europe. So, we look forward to see you in the next video. In the meantime, hit the like button if you if this was useful for you and subscribe to the channel so that you keep up to date on everything we see. What do you think? Yes. So, thanks for watching and until then, happy cycling. so far. Bye-bye.
