This 1995 Fuji Roubaix is for sale and would be good for my gf, but the stem is welded. Would it be possible to upgrade to a modern fork and stem setup on this bike?
What part is welded? Swapping forks is generally a pain to find the right one. There are 1″ threaded to 1 1/8″ threadless adapters you can use, but safety is questionable.

1. what do you want to change and why?
2. the stem can be exchanged seperately, the bar can be exchanged seperately, the fork can be exchanged seperately
3. you can upgrade to a threadless fork, but you have to slam out the old headset bearring cups and press in a new threadless headset (I doubt you should do that on your own but it is doable)

other thoughts: cant really see much on the picture but if everything works well, the paint isnt too scratched its a cute steel frame with an early STI group (nicer for everyday use than frame shifters)
For 200€ youre not doing anything wrong if everything is fine. If its more expensive I would have to take a closer look

Why? If you need a stem with a longer quill or more reach you can get a Nitto Technomic.
Not worth it at all, if you want a different fit there’s other types of quill stems available in all sorts of sizes, you don’t need a new fork to do so. And certainly, if you really want a different feel overall you might need a new bike overall anyways.
