Hi everyone as the title says I’m looking to buy my first bike and I’m looking at the used market. More specifically in fb marketplace in or near Edinburgh.
Last I had a bike was when I was 10 but I’ve been riding forever and I’ve ridden the city bikes in my city which were free. Now in Edinburgh and looking for a bike to commute, go to the gym, the store etc.
I just don’t know a thing about bikes, parts, brands, or even sizes. Added to that the used market can be difficult, I feel.
Anyways just wanted to ask what I should look for? I’ve seen a Felt z95 with Shinmano Tiagra for £100(135 USD). It looks in decent condition. Is that reasonable? Also what would I test and ask of the seller? Like if the bike has been on accidents or if the frame is dented or bent?
Any brands to lookout for for steals or bad deals?

it’s an old bike from like 2007 but the price is good. I can see it’s size 56 so that would mean you should be around 176cm-182cm somewhere around that figure

You need to figure out what size you need before doing anything else. Road bikes are quite sensitive to getting the right size, and being on the wrong sized bike can be a miserable, uncomfortable experience. You can get a rough idea from height charts, but it can depend on your proportions too, and different brands might be slightly different sizes anyway.
Bike looks fine, can’t really complain for that sort of money as long as it’s in serviceable condition with no major issues.
I’m 6 foot (183) cm would that be okay? I’ve seen between 56-58cm would fit me. Is a 2007 an old bike?
