Hi All,
Been on a fitness/weight loss journey since last summer. Peaked at 260lbs. I am a 6'5 former collegiate athlete. Down to 218lbs now. Resting heart rate is down 15 bpms. Done a few 5k's and 8k's.
I have been pelotoning since last winter almost daily. Was getting bored of the peloton so started looking into used road bikes. Went to bike shop about an hour away and asked to see any 61cm used road bikes. This was the first one they showed me. Had to get it. What do you all think? Eddy Merckx 61cm Titanium AV. Did 20 miles this weekend and feeling pretty good about it the purchase.

VERY nice first road bike. Hang on to that one.
That’s something I would totally get in my size! May you be blessed with many tailwinds and no cramps 😄
probably the sickest thing you could get. are you near sacramento by chance? I saw a 61 ti merckx for sale around here recently
I’d get a second opinion on the spoking of those wheels, for your weight it might be under-spoked.
Classic beauty !!! 👌👌🫶
This is a really, really nice find. My recollection is that they were built by Litespeed back in the day- though the joke used to be that Eddy must have been there watching over the welders’ shoulders, because the welds were better than on the Litespeed branded frames of the day.
Anyway.
They had Eddy-specific geometry from the era- a slacker seat tube and (therefore) longer top tube at a give size than a lot of other brands.
That’s a nice parts kit, too!
Oh shit!!!! I remember those stems. Ugh.
I think that could sufficiently be your last road bike as well. But what’s the fun in that, right?
I used to have this same bike.
