Get your bro a helmet, specially while he’s still learning.

What’s the best way to teach an adult? Drop the seat, take the pedals off and let them balance bike for a while first?

When I showed my son how to ride a bike after a few moment of him not understanding that he needs momentum to remain balanced, I grabbed the bike and flung it rolling down the road and it took off for a good 100 ft and showed him how the bike didn’t need him and he was the one keeping it from being balanced. 2 min later he was riding the bike.
You have to just go. I see adults learning at my local park on occasion on a hire bike. If the sun is out and the grass is firm, going on that takes some fear out.
Best way I think is just go – someone hold the saddle and let go when you have enough speed to keep up right.
By the time you realise your support is not holding you, you have 80% of it. The next 20% is turning and then getting better a slow speed control and confidence.

I taught my friend how to ride by reminding her that, because of physics, she’s a lot more stable at speed than trying to poke along while balancing at half a mile an hour.

Probably best to start in a grassy park with a helmet on.

We fear falling as we get older / bigger.
