Hi all,

In the last few rides I've started to notice that my axle has some play I'm the bottom bracket, you can see on the video that when I move one side of the pédalier the chainring on the other side moves.

From what I understand this kind of movement is bad news, so I was wondering is that was actually very bad if I could do anything about like servicing the BB and tightening something.

It's on my trusty oldie Peugeot Aubisque.
Pretty old stuff but very good state beside this issue.
I'm not sure if I'll be able or know how to find a compatible BB replacement for it if it's needed :/

Is the BB cooked ?

  1. Watch videos on YouTube how to service a bottom bracket. You just need a few tools, bearings and grease. A lovely weekend project

  2. I doubt you are going to tighten that away. Even if you could, it might work for a while but just make it even worse. You would notice if the bearings were bad. The pedals wouldn’t rotate freely. I expect that this is just a worn out bottom bracket that is allowing the bearings to move a little. I’m not sure what bottom bracket that is. But it looks like a Euro outboard to me. You will be able to find a replacement. If you have the tools, take the cranks out and take the bottom bracket apart. Take precise measurements of the old one and bike frame. It’s not a goner. It is just time for a little TLC.
