“I feel like I’m on location for a movie. It’s incredible. It’s like a dream.”
The cyclists participating in the 2024 Orient Express share what it’s like to cycle out of Paris and head into the French countryside.
This video follows them as they cycle ‘The Joie de Vivre’ section which begins in Paris, the City of Lights. The route heads through France’s famous Champagne region where the riders cycle through vast vineyards, stopping to sample the bubbly. Refreshed the cyclists spin through the charming villages of Alsace before tackling the challenging Vosges Mountains. A night in Munster tasting the renown local cheese prepares the riders for the final push into Germany and the university town of Freiburg.

a [Music] Paris was amazing because there’s so much excitement in the city and it’s beautiful to walk I love Paris all the people like to sit in the cafes like everybody faces out so that they can see kind of what’s happening and who’s going by I cycled day and night around the city it’s such a safe City to cycle around so I saw Paris in a different way than I had before and and I really enjoy [Music] that cycling out of Paris is a thrill of course you’re going to ride by a couple of very famous [Music] sites as you leave this world renowned city the city gets a little smaller a little bit smaller and uh it was just very Charming to go from giant met Metropolis two smaller little Villages if you [Music] will going out into the country has been uh just so beautiful the other day when we were cycling through a Vineyard there’s grape vines on this side grape vines on this side there’s the Vista of the mountains and the fields and I was like I’m on location for a mov the forests the cute houses the cows on the side of the road we totally thought it was Beauty and the Beast we just could imagine you know all the villagers throwing open their shutters you [Music] know it’s been incredible it’s like a dream [Music] for
