Planning to give this ol bike a complete catalogue makeover or near of what’s possible with all the parts I can find. Is the frame legit? Based from a post i did the badge on here is a araya tsubame or araya’s swallow bike. Its a 27 wheelset and currently has 27×1 1/4 tires on. I just want to know if the frame’s original or just a replica. But if its fake it still doesnt matter i will be making this as a tribute to my girl’s late grandpa

no one fakes an Araya. enjoy your bike
If you are going to rebuild it with period parts, don’t try to track them down one by one. It would be more cost effective to buy a whole other parts bike.
You know the story of “grandfather’s axe”?
To be frank with you, this is kind of a basic bike. It’s not bad, but it’s not a high level frame that warrants a major restoration project. I’d just tune it up, replace anything broken or worn out, and ride it.
And no, it’s not fake. Nobody fakes lower end bikes, there would be no point.
If the parts are funky and stuff you can literally just remove them, take the apart, degrease them, clean them, polish them, oil them, put them back together.
Buy some new break pads, new wire and that should be enough of go to get it in fine working order.
My bicycle has 1950s pieces that were all clogged up and I did that and it runs smoothly now.
Sometimes a bike just speaks to you. Value doesn’t matter. Having fun with what you like matters. Cheers!
