Bike is about 30 years old and I'm fairly sure it's only had minimal servicing. So quite pleased with myself!

Going to try doing the freehub next.

I realise the crank gears are all f*cked and the chain is probably done… couldn't quite see how that comes apart so I just gave it a clean and put it back on…

    Should have mentioned, yes I re-greased it. Next time I’ll try to curb my enthusiasm enough to take before and after pics…

    Nice going. I have to say though, the cheap Shimano sealed cartridge square taper bottom brackets are generally a lot nicer to use than cup and cone units, unless we’re talking a really nice cup and cone unit.

    Check your crank BCD, I’ve gotten triple chainring sets for $30 that are *good enough*.

    Check chain wear but probably replace it. If there’s not a quick link you’ll have to use a chain tool to push a chain pin through three of the four metal faces of the chain so that the chain slides apart but you could push the pin back into place with a chain tool in order to reassemble the chain when done.
