That’s a speed sensor magnet for an e-bike integrated into a lockring or which fits on top of a lockring. Is that a chris king hub? I don’t think CK hubs work with internally splined lockrings, and I haven’t seen a magnet lockring that has even partial external splines

Hard to tell from your picture if there is a tool fitting hiding on the ID of the lockring, or it it’s a type that presses into the tool fitting of a lockring, but the markings indicate it’s a lockring with integrated magnet.

Based on the witness marks, it looks like it may have been installed/removed with a screwdriver and hammer in the past… Or perhaps that’s how you tried to remove it?

Sure looks like the same font as the specialized part, but without the internal splines for a rotor/lockring tool. I wonder if someone removed the tool splines to fit the hub preload adjuster? In that case, maybe remove with a screwdriver and hammer and replace with an externally spined lockring.

If you’re putting this wheel on an ebike, there are some rotors which have integrated magnets, or which can have a magnet added, but the position of the magnet needs to line up with the speed sensor.
