Found this Specialized Hardrock GX earlier at my local goodwill for $13…..
I’ve had decent luck finding cool project bikes and bike parts at thrift stores in my town, but this is by far the best deal I’ve gotten post pandemic.
I’m a Kona guy, knowledgeable about most if not all of the vintage catalog. Anyways, does anyone have any info on this model? I’m not familiar with the “GX” branding and what makes it different than the sport. Any idea on what year this one is from? I was thinking 1995 from my limited research. Do we know if 3.0’s will fit?
Not sure of its direction yet, but unfortunately it has to sit in my storage unit until August. I can’t wait to break it down and give it a good clean/look over.

No way! Only bikes I ever see at thrift stores are WalMart junk
I took one my parents neighbor was throwing away while I was visiting.. in basically perfect condition, not a scratch on the paint, brand new origin 8 cantis, but idk much about the differences from the other models. You can usually find the catalogues online… and dude 3.0? Surely you jest. 2.1 is more like it, maybe 2.25 depending on knobbiness
