Back in the 80's I was very much into cycling, even buying my first real racing bike with babysitting money: a 1986 Bianchi Sport SX. My dad got interested too, and bought a Marushi and later a Bianchi Axis. Sadly I sold my Bianchi in the late 90's because I had stopped riding it and needed the money.

Dad is now 83, and told me I could have his bikes if I wanted them! I flew down to where he lives, rented a minivan, and drove 18 hours back home to bring these two beauties to New England. Dad also gave me a trainer, panniers for the Bianchi (and the two wheel sets he had for it), and a Park Bicycle repair stand.

The Marushi still has the original LOOK carbon pedals he put on from the late 80's, and fortunately the delta clips are still made (thank you, Peloton!). I've already picked up new tires, tubes, and cycling shoes, and am giving it a thorough cleaning this week. The brakes work well, and it still shifts sharp and clean. I've also picked up the 2nd edition of "Zinn & the Art of Bicycle Maintenance" for any future rebuilds and projects. I'm also considering whether to buy an all-in-one toolkit or keep using the few basic bike tools I still have.

I'm SUPER looking forward to getting them on the road this summer!
