Hello!
I'm choosing my first 'proper bike' which will be used for bike packing trips (probably a week long max), nice weekend rides, light gravel but nothing too crazy off road. I can spend around 1000GBP and I'm based in Scotland so something that doesn't feel too weighty on hills is important, I am not crazy about super modern looking designs, which is why I haven't been looking much at Cube or Canyon etc.
I am using a cycle2work scheme so what I can get will depend on retailers accepting that and having my size in stock, but assuming they were all available to me, how would you rank the following?
– Genesis CDA 20 https://www.genesisbikes.co.uk/product/genesis-cda-20-vargn21210/VARGN21210/GN21210XL – this seems to be a very popular option and quite hard to find in stock, I am also unsure If I would be better going for the croix de fer model instead.
– Kinesis G2 https://kinesisbikes.co.uk/products/kinesis-bike-g2-khaki-green?variant=49762043822406&country=GB¤cy=GBP&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic – this one seems like it would be light and fast but has less mounting points
– Saracen Levarg https://www.saracen.co.uk/products/levarg
– Kona Rove https://konaworld.com/products/rove-ms – I think this is a bit heavier and possibly more off road suited than I need
– Surly Preamble https://surlybikes.com/products/preamble-drop-bar-thorfrost-white – I love the look of surly bikes, but this is the only one in my price range and it's maybe too expensive compare to bikes that might be more suitable
Or is there anything else I should be looking at?
Thank you 🙂

That Saracen looks good price and with a lot of mounting points for bags and accessories. I’d avoid those with external cable routing.
