Hi,

I have started riding my Endurace CF SLX 7 AXS in 2024, and have put in ~2000km since. I have put the bike together myself and have used Canyon’s torque screwdriver tool. I have not touched the screw since and it was fine for >year of riding.

A few weeks ago I have noticed a very subtle “knob” on the cockpit (pics attached) – it is maybe 1-2mm high.

I suspect it might be the screw attaching the bars to the cockpit (can’t say for sure its 1:1 above the screw but it seems like it).

  • can it actually be the screw? I couldn’t find any such cases online
  • could it be caused by my weight (leaning) on it?
  • how bad is that for the cockpit, and should I do anything like loosen the screw a bit?

I’m a bit cautious cause it’s carbon, if it’s safe and I should ignore it then that’s something I can live with – don’t care about the optics of it too much!

Thanks!

That is not normal at all. If the screw damaged the carbon, then the handlebars may snap so be very careful and contact Canyon asap.

  2. I wouldn’t risk riding this until it’s sorted. Or at least avoid getting out of the saddle and putting any load through the bars.

  3. I wouldn’t expect a screw pushing through to look like that. It would be more… round? It also wouldn’t happen out of the blue. It would need to be overtorqued.

But this absolutely does look like delamination.
