I’m looking for any advice/recommendations for the best way to commute from home to work, 6 miles each way, lots of hills. I’ve seen the Henty Wingman and the Henty Copilot, both of which I’m particularly interested in. Here’s my use case:
- Only need a commute bag, not for other travel. I looked previously at the Briggs & Riley Garment Duffle as a potential solution, but it seems like way more bag than I need for my use case, and it isn’t waterproof.
- Wear a suit and tie every day. So my daily load out will be a suit, pants, dress shirt, tie, belt, socks, dress shoes, underwear, and undershirt. I’ll also carry an iPad pro most days. All toiletries, etc., will be kept in a locker at my office.
- I’d love to move everything off my back and strap any bag to the rack on my bike. Although I guess I can live with a backpack and a sweaty back if I have to.
- I‘m 6’1” and 275 pounds, with the suit and clothes to match that frame.
- I sweat. A lot. LiKelly has to do with clocking in at 275, so riding while wearing work clothes isn’t an option. I live in DC, which is a humid-ass swamp 4 months a year. I’ll shower and change at the office.
- I like the smaller size of the Wingman. But I love the briefcase-style carry handle and the the tuckable backpack straps of the Copilot. But I’m concerned about the increased size of the Copilot and it being more bag than I need.
- I’ve looked at the Two-Wheel Gear Garment Pannier, but I’m concerned about the several reviews about screw that poke through and damage clothes, and also sacrifice rack space I can use for my Ortlieb panniers when I need to bring more, non-clothes gear to the office.
- I’m also open to other suggestions about a daily commute and carrying my work clothes.
