Someone is selling this bike at my college and I was wondering if it’s a good bike to buy. I’ve never ridden a bike before and know next to nothing about them but I need one asap to commute to college for classes. (Also in case anyone knows the dimensions of the bike and if it’ll be a good fit for me, I’m a 5’5 female, 118lbs, and have long legs and a short torso)

No this bike may cost $150 brand new. It’s not a good bike. It’s a crappy disposable Dick’s sporting goods bike.
Stick with a used brand name. Trek, cannondale, Specialized, and Giant are all good brands that you should be able to find a good used bike for $150-200 range.

  2. You don’t need suspension. At that price point it’s apt to just bob as you ride and make things weird.

If you’re looking for an affordable bike that’s comfortable to ride, near this price point, you are better off no suspension with 2.2in+ tires.

That said I have spent more than $150 on a set of bike tires. They make a big difference.

My heart goes out to you. How are you going to college and also never ridden a bike?

Try to ride a bike once, make note of the size of frame, tires, etc then figure out which one to buy.

  5. $75 if they include the lock. Edit I read your other post about needing a bike and willing to spend $500. I think for $75 you can commute for a while. Just don’t expect miracles.
