[Music] Today we are riding from Southampton to Portsouth and this ride involves two fairies. It’s 40ome ks and I’m quite excited cuz I’m looking forward to Portsmouth. Charles the fat man is here. He’s packing. I’m good. I’m think it’s going to be great. I’m looking forward to it. We’ll share it with you. [Music] All right, Charlie. What do you think of the ride out of Southampton? It’s confusing until you get over the bridge, so it’s a bit, you know, confusing, but now it’s beautiful. Like we’re running along the water’s edge and we’re in a beautiful park and it’s quite nice. We’re at some museum that also has a pool. So, it’s theater and a pool and a coffee shop, but the coffee shop’s not opened. Dope. And it’s it used to be a museum. That’s what the sign over there says. But um you know, it’s really lovely and there’s big containers ship going past and uh it’s all lovely. I swear I saw you in a past life in a dream. You were with me. This is the town where the ferry is. I barely know I fell in love with you. Here it go. [Music] [Music] Now we’re pulling up this little pinch point at the other end. asking me if I’m likely to get stuck otherwise I’ll come straight back [Music] in England some of the fairies just wouldn’t cut mustard in Australia because you know we have different survey standards and we changed the survey rules not that long ago but like this fairy is bra painted bright pink it’s opened at the France and the man says we’re lucky cuz they only upgraded from a roadboat not that long ago. And I was like, surely that makes him the lucky one. But you know, it’s diesel, it’s rusty, it’s painted bright and pink. Obviously the shelter fills up with water at high tide. You know, it’s adorable. It’s very rudimentary. They just sort of smash it into the warf at the end and then use propw walk to push it up against the um the tires. There’s a couple of fairies like you just look at and you go the work the SMS it doesn’t exist I don’t think I think there’s no there was no life preservers or anything on that boat like totally illegal there’s two carly rafts at the back that look like they had holes all through them anyway it seems to work one more thing it’s so like faulty towers adorable there is no timetable you just sort of say good day to the bloke and he’ll head off or or ask to wait till he gets a snack or whatever it is and he’s just very very nice. So, I’d have to say that the people uh add to the experience and it was really fun. Do it. Definitely do it. Got to want to have you out of you. I want to find it. I’m changing you. [Music] Yeah. Okay. Thanks, mate. Everyone’s got it. [Music] You better [Music] sleep tonight. [Music] We just checked into a little studio at the inn by the sea here in Portsmouth. It’s got a washing machine and there’s a little bathroom with that. And in here is the bedroom. Hello from the Gunwarf in Portsmouth. So, back in April, it’s now the end of June. Back in April, I uh reached out to the UK Submariners Association and we colluded to set up a little surprise for the fat man. Thanks to Ian in particular from the UK Submariners Association and especially Donald and Kevin from the local branch who just met us for breakfast. Huge thanks to the branch members that approved them shouting us breakfast as well. The fat man has now, also known as sloth, has now headed off to tour around some of the museums in Portsmouth with absolutely awesome lads, uh Kevin and Donald, and they’re both uh quite experienced and uh really a wonderful part of the submariner community here. I I was like I couldn’t tell Charlie like I was keeping it a secret for months and right up to the last couple of days I was like ah and I told him that we were doing a warm showers meet up. I don’t know if you’ve seen other uh times we’ve done warm showers meetups where we sort of meet random people in the local area and hear about what cycling’s like around here and life and just you know it’s just nice to meet up for a chat. So yeah, um huge huge thanks to the UK Submariners Association, especially the local branch here. Um I’m already loving Portsmouth. It’s our first day and we’re staying until Saturday. And Donald and Kevin, you are very, very entertaining chaps and I’m sure the fat man’s going to have a great day. [Music]
