So to start, I’m 6’6” 288lbs. I went with the XXL.
I have no experience putting bikes together, but I figured it would help me know the bike better. First bike since I was young. Haven’t ridden a bike in 13 years.
So far everything is stock except for the QR Skewers. Putting perelli gravel m’s on tomorrow.
Have had some issues getting the brakes lined up, and have had some creaks and clicks, all of which I have been able to diagnose and address.
As for riding, most of the 175m is paved, but I’ve done some pretty difficult gravel miles on it as well. The stock tires are not really suitable for the gravel near me, which goes from soft pack, to literal sand wash out, to very rough chunky gravel, to hard packed, and even some old gravel roads that are essentially mini-cobble stones. The stock wheels slip and slide all over everything but the hard and super hard packed stuff, hence gravel m’s going on.
The brakes are brakes, but I am not super confident in them, even with compressionless housing. I’m a big dude, and when I get going downhill, these just don’t have the stuff to really lock up, but even when bombing some big hills, they did slow me down and I’m not worried about them on the trails I’m riding. Will likely upgrade soon.
The micro shift sword shifters (being my first drop bar gear set up) feels really good, and I like that the whole brake lever doesn’t move like the higher end shifters. The bars that the bike come with seem decent for what they are, and I have been enjoying drop bars, even if I am still getting used to it.
I got this bike for $625+bs using govx and I feel like for the price I couldn’t have done a whole lot better considering bikes my size are rare on the used market. Frame has lifetime warranty, and it should be a decent platform to upgrade from.
I really like the bike, even if a lot of people hate on Poseidon. I’ll get a better bike one day, but for now, this one does what I need it to.
Finally, I have named her Netflix Cleopatra.
