Yup. I think the qr will hold you back. If you want a wider wheel in the long run, bigger tires, etc. yeah it will.
When I help others look for a bike, if it’s not ta , I don’t recommend it
If you’re In the USA, Jenson has a rocky mountain growler 20 for $850. Lesser parts but it’s TA.
I would keep this saved try offering 650 see how he responds but it’s not a bad price
It depends on the use-case, but it’s a decent beginner bike at best. If you’re just getting into the sport and you don’t want to drop a lot of money, I say go for it. Just be aware that if you really do end up liking MTB, this version of the Roscoe has dated geometry and tech; you could only upgrade it so much to get any future benefits.
Looks like the 2020-2021 so yea, non-standard “QR boost” hub spacing will be annoying if you ever want a new wheel set or need a new hub etc. Fwiw I sold the exact same bike for about $700 last month, fully tuned up (including fork service).
