Im currently down 2500km on my shimano Tiagra 10 speed and its time to change my chain as its quite stretched. Should I replace the casette as well? Different sources give me different answers.I still have around 2500km to go on my trip so I will change the casette eventually but is it necessary now together with the chain? Whats the worse that can happen if/ change only the chain? The shifting is still perfect and I have zero issues.

Always replace the chain with the cassette, and in my opinion you should do it before that 2500km.
Plus, i would say for you to try to keep it cleaner so the wear from dirt is less as possible.
A common rule of thumb is 3 chains for every cassette, the cassettes for every chainrings
Check the cassette for wear. From the picture it looks like it may use some love or at least some new sprockets. If it’s only a few sprockets, and you can buy them separately, replace these. But … I’ve never replaced my cassette after only 2500 km. My current one (12 speed Shimano 105) has 10000 km and is still ok and I’ll keep it for winter rides when I replace it next week. Others I’ve replaced after ~5000 – 6000 km. It’s all highly dependent on the weather and circumstances you ride in. When in doubt ask your local bike mechanic.
From the picture i think the cassette will be fine rest of your trip just replace the chain. i did 3 chains on my 13500km trip but noticed the cassette really wearing out after 8000km by my 3rd chain at that time was getting bit of slippage so had to keep fine tuning by the end i would skip to the gears i normally dont use not a huge deal though still got me to the finish. hope this advice helps.
