I wouldn’t hold my breath until it is actually enforced. Same law exist in France, clear category IV infraction, 135€. Nobody gives a damn.

over here where i live the cops are parked directly on the painted bike lanes while sitting in their car. This will never get enforced sadly.

Kind of crazy that it was legal prior to this. What’s next? Making it illegal to drive cars in sideways?

We have a lot of signs in my town that say no parking in the bike lane, which just means it’s where the cops park their toys.
I rode around one once and said “the way you’re parked forces us (cyclists) onto the road and it’s not safe”
Cop sitting in his parked car in the bike lane: “fuck you”

It’s uplifting news to see bikes, and a new law in the same sentence as something good for cyclists (and really every one).
My skeptic side agrees it likely won’t be enforced nearly enough, but it still feels like good news somewhere. If only that Utah’s legislature has realized the benefits that bikes have on a community.
