
It seems like the teeth (those that grab the chain and pull them onto the chainring teeth) are hitting the chain where the links connect rather than the gap bit in between. The previous chain was stretched hence why it's been replaced. Have tried the front derailleur limiting screws but that didn't do anything.

Are you sure the new chain is long enough. Maybe you can take a side profile picture so we can give better advice
Have you tried loosening the high limit screw and also increasing the cable tension?
Di you damage the derailleur while installing the chain? I broke mine while giving the chain a kick to tighten the chain lock, the front derailleur was in the wrong position and the linkage arm broke off.
So couple of questions,
Is the chainring “clocked” the right way so the ramps will assist the up shift?
Chainring is the same size?
If the cables are exposed, can you pull on the cable to shift it to the big ring? If yes, you need more cable tension, if no, try adjusting limit screws
