  1. I’d be tempted to repair it. If the plastic melts in acetone (like ABS) I’d solvent weld it, otherwise I’d attempt to glue it and reinforce. I’d sand around the circumference of the cracked section, apply epoxy into the crack and all around, then wrap some glass or carbon tow around that (wetting out with epoxy). But I have the stuff for those repairs at hand and enjoy that kind of thing. Not an expert on mechanical design of the hoods/mounting system though. 

  2. at some point, where you can least afford it, that is going to finish cracking all the way through; then the next thing you know, you’ll be wondering, from your hospital bed as you contemplate surgery to fix your nose and teeth, why you didn’t just replace the thing sooner

    Mine is cracked in almost exactly the same spot. I have the replacement, just need to do it.
