I need some advice from people who have traveled by bike on a surf trip. I am planning a Baja trip this winter over Jan-Feb and planning on surfing as much as I can. The board I am planning on bringing is a little 5’6 fish.
My question for you is – rack or trailer? I see a big benefit to the added utility of the trailer, especially when hauling water to more remote destinations. Though I’m worried about how much more effort it will be pulling it around, especially in deeper sand or up hills. I have a good lead on a Bob Croozer Ibex. High quality chromoly cargo trailer, weighing in around 7.7kg or 17lbs. It seems like I see more trailers than racks for these longer journeys.

Then there is the rack. Cheaper, lighter, and more simple. No real utility other than moving your board. If you have biked with them before, they are kinda a pain in the ass for longer trips, no?

Let me know what youre experience has been! Very much appreciated.

Also, I’ll be looking for friends if youre free this winter and want to catch waves in the sun.
