I received my first BMX a few days ago. Is it normal for the fork to have so much play and wobble? If not, I would appreciate tips on how to fix the problem. And there’s a red rubber band on the fork, as you can see. Why is it there? Did they forget something?
Also, the rear brake has constantly been rubbing against the chain, and I can’t get the brake to work properly. Is it normal for the rear wheel to continue spinning, just more slowly, when I fully press the lever while riding? I did try to adjust the breakes multiple times but it seems to not get better. I do come to a stop, but it takes a while. I’ve previously ridden disc brakes on my MTB and am used to it stopping immediately. The BMX came pre-assembled, and so far, I’ve been very disappointed with Sourcebmx/Mankind…
I am thankful for any advice.

Headset is loose. Loose the stem bolts around the steerer tube then tighten the screw on the top cap until the looseness goes away. Then retighten the stem bolts.
