I got a brand new Benno off upway, when I went to screw this quick release axel it went in like butter but I couldn’t lock the cam lever, now it won’t back out. There doesn’t appear to be a hex head in the open end. Help?

That is a thru-axle wheel, not a quick release wheel.
As such, it does not need a qr lever, and it looks as though it was already good to go when you started.
As for getting the qr out, I am unsure what to do. I would probably try to pull it with more force, gently but firmly.
Use your better judgement though, don’t go ham on it.

Some thru axles with levels only engage with the axle at specific lever angles. Try seeing if there is a different lever angle that allows you to unscrew the through axle.
