It’s good to be home and it smells so good!…

After a busy time away and a rather frustrating delayed return, we’re home and back on the bikes. It feels as if we have been away forever, rather than just 10 days, so it’s good to be getting back into the simple little routines of life.

In the last week the lavender has really come on and some fields have already been harvested, but today we stumbled across the tractors busy in the fields near Roussillon….
.
It always brings us to a standstill, as the smell is incredible and there is nothing nicer than being enveloped in a cloud of lavender-scented air. Even better is then following the lavender trucks towards the distilleries, cycling with the scent in our nostrils is always such a joy…

Needless to say, we stood here for a while, just watching the tractor busy at work, whilst the farmer hand-snipped the last blooms from the end of each row to ensure no flowers were missed ..

It’s the lavender festival in Apt tomorrow, so that will be a scented occasion too…

Good morning. Welcome to today’s postcard in France and uh first day back on the bike since we arrived home a couple of days ago. The lavender is just on its way over and we’ve just come up one of our favorite roads and the harvest has started. So, let me just turn you around. So, they’ve literally just started on this field. Um the smell honestly as that’s going by is utterly divine. It is absolutely heavenly. It’s about as strong as you can get. Um but just beautiful. So it’s that time of year. If you’re coming to see the lavender, it won’t be here for much longer. Um the lavender festival in apt is this weekend and then Valinsol next weekend and then the final one in so on the 15th of August. So we’re just going to sit and smell this for a while and hope you’ve enjoyed it. Bye-bye. [Music]
