cyclocross i can see. Only bc people who rode them might start selling them. ipso facto buyers might start saying calipers are better brakes (but they aren’t)

We already ride Rohloff…

You’re not wrong – i’ve had luck selling some early 2000s lugged cross bikes recently, and after having built up 26” for the last few years, 27” to 700c vintage touring bikes are what interests me the most right now in building up.
And triple chain rings never went out of style

i was pretty bummed when i couldn’t get enough derailleur throw to get a triple on my nor’easter.

I still ride a triple daily. I’ve always thought converting to 1x on old bikes is kinda lame

some members of my groupchat were doing the road caliper apologist thing literally this week so I can only assume the rest will come true too

Guilty. Especially with triples. The world doesn’t know what it’s missing.
Also needs an article on how to care for a 15 to 20 year old carbon fiber frame.

I am this. I have the (kinda rare?) singlespeed tricross frame that has been my commuter/beater for about 18 months now. Such a good bike! And the geared ones are a steal compared to a newer gravel bike, just because they aren’t trendy.

No way triples are coming. My head hurts looking at them cause I’m bad at math.

Hold up, where’s the “can I use single speed in the back and a triple up front?”

as long as we’re still spending $2k on components to ride 1.5mi to the pub while saying stuff like “I don’t get why anyone needs spandex and chamois and helmets”

What no dynamos?

I would’ve added minivelos in there too. There’s a lot of interest in 20″ wheeled bikes now.

lol @ the fenders part – a buddy of mine sent me a pic of his skunk stripe this weekend like “it’s time to get fenders.”
I, who rode home in the storm the night before, only had wet thighs 💅🏻

i prefer 26″ just because of my weird brain where i think ill need the most available tire size and i feel like it would be easier finding 26 x 2.1-2.3 tires than 29 x 2.1-3 in remote areas.
also i loveeeee those tri cross bikes, i feel like they are very well respected where im at on the EC in a big city and anything like the tricross, proprad or decent cyclocross bike demands a premium. only issue i ever had with riding one was the weight capacity i like having the ability to have tons of stuff on a given bike.

Internally geared hubs are rad. I’m here for it.

Omniums are fucking awesome though and I hope I will get to own one one day.

I am all for internal hubs. They are so cheap and work so much better in the different conditions I have when touring. Also they are different from the current mainstream, which is arguably important for xbikes as it drives down prices.

Wait until everyone figures out that “tri-cross” frame geometry is pretty much the same as English 3 speeds (IGH included, fenders, North road bars, and caliper brakes included).
Biggest difference is headtube angle, tri-cross is more severe, but the 3- speeds make up it for with a raked for (which offers a more comfortable ride than straight forks).

Triple chainring with a rohloff on an old lugged frame is full Sheldon brown cyclomancy.
