Welcome to Tech Garage and today I’ve got a walk around video of this 2004 Yamaha YZF R1. Now, is there a better looking superbike than an R1 finished in blue with white wheels? How incredible does that bike look? I say it does kind of matter what other superbike you talk about, I don’t think they are as defined and look as good as uh YZ FR1. And obviously everybody knows what the R1 is. It kind of is the staple of a 1000cc bikes. They are just absolutely fantastic. Every time Yamaha fetch one out, they’re just they’re up there. They the class beating and they’re just such a fantastic bike. And I think just about every bike has always wanted an R1 at some point in their life if they haven’t had one. They just are absolutely incredible. So this one’s only covered 23,000 mi. It’s in really, really good condition, which is is hard to find on the 04 plate to be honest with you. Um, there’s not that many of them about anymore and it is just an incredible superbike. I mean, just riding it down here, they still ride fantastic. Um, just as good as a new bike. They’re fast, but they’re comfortable. They lean in really well. And yeah, they are still just just such a stunning bike. So, like said, this one has been looked after. It’s got quite a lot of service history to this bike as well. Um, I believe it has actually got three keys and I said I’ only covered 23,000 mi. So, it is in really good condition. It does have a few trick bits that I’ll go through in a minute, but nothing too major. It’s been kept in fairly standard form. So, we have just serviced the bike ourselves. Um, and we’ve also fitted brand new tires. So, they are Pirelli Diablo tires match front to rear. These are brand new. a great sports tire. We put these on a lot of our bikes and they’re quite grippy. And there you go. That’s the rear one there. Like I said, they are matched. The bike has also been fitted with an aftermarket exhaust. So, when I get started up, I’ll let you hear that. Does sound pretty well. We’ve then got some RNG uh crash bungs fitted on the side. It has also had braided hoses fitted front to rear. And it has had adjustable uh foldup clutch and brake levers, some new Oxford uh bar ends, and also a smoked um screen fitted there as well. And like I said, as you can probably see from the video, the bike is just mega clean. So I kind of try and get around the swing arm around the rear spring there, but it has just been seriously looked after. And like I said, it’s not over the top with the modifications that it’s had or that it has also had a steering damper, which if you read on some of the R1 forums are kind of a must that these bikes didn’t come with them standard. So, we all suggest to have the steering damper fitted. It has got one of them on there as well. So, I’ll just get the bike started up so you can hear it. It has also been fitted with a gear indicator, which is always helpful. It’s not too loud, but it does sound awesome and obviously gives you a really good sound on the road. So, there you have it.
