Day 10 of bikepacking from Bonn, Germany to Bialystok in Poland.
[Music] Good morning. This is day 10. I left the room where I stayed the night. Um, just a moment ago. It is 270 total rest till I get to Casper. I’m going to see how far I get today. There’s only one actual town between here and Casper. It’s called Lomza. Zurumin was lovely. It’s a very nice apartment. Uh nice burger place. Also a little bakery slash shop situation. It’s getting harder and harder with not speaking Polish. We found ways to communicate. Um yeah, people just been incredibly sweet along the whole journey so far. [Music] It’s going quite well. I’ve been riding for 2 hours. I made 50k. The roads are really good. Really, really good. And they’re also so empty now. Maybe one car every 20 minutes. It’s getting quite hot though. [Music] So Kamud is sending me through here, but it looks a bit deep and a bit nasty to carry the bike through. I want to see if there’s a way around. But I need to cross this little stream somewhere. I guess I think I found a way around without doing a massive detour. But there’s a bigger road crossing the stream 2k away from here. So I’m going to do that little detour. Maybe do an extra 5k, but skip waiting through water. I’m back on the route. The tour was a bit longer than I guesstimated from the map, but I am at the 200 mark. So, it’s only 200k left to cast. [Music] I didn’t film much for the last 50k. I was very much in the zone. I think I’m doing all right. It is getting incredibly hot. There wasn’t much to film either. It was just straight roads mostly to field sometimes to forest. It is 140k left. I think I need a cool down stop soon. So, next gas station or whatever. [Music] There is so I think another 40 to Lza and then another 90 to Casper. So 130 left. Still not sure if I’m going to go all the way or if I’m going to stop at Lza. I think the best plan is to go to Lomba and see how I feel. It It feels achievable though. It’s 2:00 now. I’ll be in Lomba at around 4:00. If I take a long break, like maybe 1 hour and have some real food, some rest, some time out the sun, then should be cooler as well after 5. So, I still think I might go for it, but let’s get to Lambda first and then see from there. [Music] Less than 100k to go. 10k to Lamza and I have a big break. But right now feel rather good. I think uh right now I’m I’m leaning towards continuing. It’s also not so late. It’s 3:30 now. 1 hour break. If I leave before 5 with the last 90k, I should still arrive before sundown. [Applause] [Music] [Music] So, I stopped in Lamza, got some warm food, took a rest. It felt pretty good. My legs don’t hurt. It cooled down a little bit. It’s a bit cloudy now. The hottest time is over and it is just before 5 and 80k left to go. Thought I should be there before 9, which means before sundown. Today is going to be a long day, but then I’m there and I’ll see my friends. It’s not another night alone. I’ll get a shower. I’ll wash my stuff. Don’t need to get back into kit tomorrow. At the end of the day, less on the bike. Right now, it feels like the right call. I’m I will be tired when I get there, but I think I’m actually going to be okay. I’m not going to overpace myself on the last bit. Now, if I can ride somewhat the same average as before, that would be great. Also, I feel like today I really found my rhythm for cycling alone yesterday. I think that took a while after Hannah left to find like a sweet spot for my pace and when I do breaks and all of that because for once I’m not doing that in the team. It’s just the last 80k left which sounds little in comparison but I know it’s still a big piece of work so I’m not uh not getting ahead of myself here. Still need to stay focused on the bike for another 3 and 1/2 hours maybe. [Music] How is this a cycle lane? It’s just sand. [Music] I’m on the last 15k and I think I’m going to take it a little bit easy because I just realized trip is going to be over and there’s not going to be much more for a little bit which is all right because I don’t feel like riding my bike much for by myself. But it was a bit weird almost that it’s over. That was two fantastic weeks. Especially the time with Jackson and Hannah was amazing. I’m looking forward to being there. I’m looking forward to arriving. But I also think it’s 15k. I know I’m going to be there tonight. There’s no need to rush it now. I can just enjoy these last days and let uh and let the trip sink in. [Music] [Music] What do you think of the second title opposition? [Music] [Music] And that’s a wrap on episode 7. Uh the final stretch of this 1,500 km trip from Bourne to Bialisto. Huge thank you to Jackson for joining me all the way to Berlin and to Hana for hopping on board for a couple of days. I really wouldn’t have done or enjoyed this trip without you guys. I’ll be taking a short break now, but there are already some fun ideas brewing. We might do a little bike trip and catch one of the last stages of the tour to France this year. Thanks again for following along. If you enjoyed it and you want to stay tuned for what’s next, make sure to subscribe to the channel and I’ll see you in the next one. [Music]

Awesome tour man! Congrats on finishing without any major issues tho, expected more punctures and detours honestly 🙂
That swampy river crossing would have been a big no-no for me too, because I had that happen in the past: Waded through, rode for another 5 km with wet shoes, then realised I entered a dead end, so all the km back and another go through the muddy swamp plus the big detour on top…
What a machine
