What do you think it is worth. 1978 Schwinn step through. Recently serviced with new tires. Not sure what that silver pope thing is on the lower frame bar. Any tips when I go to check it out?

Looks like a frame pump on the down tube
This bike is almost completely foreign to me, so I won’t be of much help. I would suggest bringing a flashlight and removing the seatpost, to see how the inside of the frame looks. Based on this one picture the frame looks like it’s in good shape, but I’d still want to take a look on the inside, see if there are any warts that aren’t visible. The shifter placement kind of throws me off. Was it common to have them on the stem like that in the 70s? I’m so used to seeing them on the down tube, or bar ends.
