Hi all! My husband and I are riding vintage old bikes that were passed down from my parents, and are ready to move on. I would like a hybrid bike, and we mostly just take casual rides around the neighborhood/parks/etc. My priority is comfort.

I am looking to keep the price as low as possible. I am looking at these 4 bikes on marketplace…

Giant – $155
Purple trek – $280
His and hers trek navigators -$500 for the pair
Blue trek – $200

Any advice would be appreciated!

Ps, I am 5’4” and I believe these are all 16” frames

All sort of a much of muchness really, no reason not to go for the cheapest one if that’s all that separates them. Don’t know what vintage bikes you’re riding, but bear in mind that this style can be quite heavy. The step through frames need extra material to be strong enough, and the suspension adds a bit of weight itself.

Have you considered getting your current bikes professionally serviced instead? If you fit well and otherwise like them, you’d be surprised how well old bikes can hold up with some TLC. Comfort largely comes from the tyres anyway, so if you could fit some newer/wider tyres that could help quite a bit.

  2. These all look fine for your needs, ultimately which is the better choice for you depends on the condition of the bike and how well it has been maintained.

The his and hers Treks are probably the newest and look to be in the cleanest shape but to be honest $500 for two used low end comfort bikes is a little steep

I think the Giant is probably the best value and looks well cared for.
