I apologize if I’ve inadvertently violated any community rules, but I was hoping someone could help me ID this bike. It’s for sale online, and this is the best picture the owner sent me. The current owner says it’s a late 70s Raleigh bike, but can’t give me any further info. I was going to check the serial number when I got there, but from my own research I haven’t been able to find a bicycle that looks like this one so I haven’t a clue which model or year it is.

I’m guessing early to mid 80s Raleigh Reliant or Record Ace, but the decal on the seat tube is throwing me off. Hoping someone else can confirm/refute.

This is a weird one… looks like early 80s Japanese components, but none of the normal decals. Canadian market?
If 70s, most likely a Grand Prix. Though they were usually labeled as so on the top tube. Could be a youth model, too, but I’m not as familiar.
The Super Course model and up typically lacked cottered cranks, and featured chrome tipped front forks, theres other differences, but these are obvious ones.
You might find it slidding down this rabbit hole of old Raleigh catalogs.
I can’t give you an exact model, but I can definitely tell you it’s low end and not particularly valuable. If you like the look and don’t mind that it will be pretty slow (yet quite possibly very comfy, especially if it fits), then absolutely go for it. But don’t drop a lot of money on it — sometimes old is just old without being special!

Just hopping in to say, that is a beautiful bike.

ID? It’s a low end mass production Raleigh…what more do you need to know? Nothing worth $, but if it rolls and you’re looking for something to noodle around in, might be fun. It looks pretty clean so it has that going for it, but you won’t win any races on it…

The paint job looks similar to some of the the [1979 Ranpar models](https://www.kurtkaminer.com/TH_raleigh_cat_us79.html). When a bike has cottered cranks, that is a sign of a cheaper bike
