I’m currently planning to cycle the length of Japan in spring 2026. I’ve pulled together a bunch of sources (Komoot, Japan Cycling Navigator, Reddit, Facebook groups, friends, blogs…) to create my own route and here it is !
If you have any advice or recommendations along the way, I’d love to hear them.

For some context: I’ve already cycled a bit around southern Honshū, so this time I really wanted to include the Kyūshū > Shikoku > Kansai route in the journey.
The day by day breakdown on Komoot is just to get a rough idea, I’ll be flexible on the road. I’m aiming for 30 riding days, with a few rest days in between, so probably around 35 days total.
Just to add, I’ve done several long-distance bike trips before, so I’m fairly used to life on the road. It’s also not my first time in Japan, and I’m currently working on improving my Japanese to help connect more with the locals along the way ! 😊
