1100 m of racing to go for the Irishman. What a day. He’s still looking so concentrated, so focused the way he takes his line. And this is a very fast ascent that we won’t see. Here’s the head of the race. Left turn and the beginning of the climb. 10% average in between the houses here. He sees the wall, the ramp in front of him and gets out the saddle as he’s done on every single climb. And you could just see straight ahead on top there. He’s going to go through another left turn and that’s when it gets really steep. 14% maximum. He’s getting ready now for the final push to the finish line. Ben Healey of EF Education Easy Post. He’s about to become the seventh Irishman to win a stage in the tour to France. 500 m to go to the top. He’ll join Sha Elliot, Sha Kelly, Martin Early, Steven Roach, Dan Martin, and Sam Bennett as an Irish stage winner in the biggest bike race in the world. What an escapade. What a day out. This rider attacked right from the start, 20 km in. He eventually joined the breakaway after a ferocious ride across Normandy. In the end, he decided it was time to go clear, but he didn’t leave it till 10 km to go. He did it with 40 odd kilometers of racing still remaining on the stage. He has won this bike race the only way you should win a bike race, and that is to leave your opponents behind. He races now into Via Normandy. He’s dreamt of winning a stage of the tour to France, and now it’s about to come true. Ben Healey of EF Education Easy Post has shown us his strength, his focus and his determination as he reaches the finish line here in Via Normandy. He is going to get the glory of a stage win in the biggest bike race in the world. What a performance by this rider. We knew he was good. Now we know how good. It’s a relentless climb to the top here in V Normandy. He checks around Ben Healey of EF Education Easy Post. Irish eyes are smiling in V Normandy. Brilliant Ben stage win and a tour to France.

  1. 43km solo after being out all day, I can safely say Ben Healy you can hold all of our beers never mind the rider of the day Rider of the week Congratulations, Ben Healy we will be talking about this for years.

  2. I'll never understand why these guys on a closed loop always choose the longest line in the road instead of closing the shortest distance in the road and curves!!!

  3. Ben has some o’ them ballzz you know. Remember on Mur de Huy he attacked Pog himself like: Heck why not? What could possibly go wrong!? 😂😂

  4. Riding with the top 5 guys will take many to that "next level" .
From my Chesterfield in PDX OR USA 🇺🇸 I can really appreciate that!

Just wish the lads wouldn't get hurt.

  5. I watched the race live and to see how Ben destroyed the worlds greatest cyclists was a huge privilege, I think that it is the best solo effort in the Tour de France history and probably in the world, he must have the constitution of an Ox, the lungs of an elephant and the muscle power of a horse to have kept going for so many kilometres, highlight of the tour so far, I hope there is more to come from Ben and the peloton, superb performance.
