  1. Maybe you need to take a look a those brake pad spacers first. New brake pads ? If so after you place the short spacers on the rim side, you than disconnect the cable from the brakes … Better advice watch this video : [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XMa9UqY9obk](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XMa9UqY9obk)

If you just installed new pads you’ll need to loosen the brake cable most likely. On the brake lever screw in the barrel adjuster all the way and see where that gets ya. If you still can’t get the “noodle” L shaped part in the quick release than you’ll need to loosen the brake cable and seat it that way. Also seat your brake pads before doing any of the above.

The J drops into the bracket – and if it’s not fitting, loosen your brake pads to see if there’s excess space there that can be taken up to let you get it in.

If not, check to see that the cable is seated all the way in the grip, not stuck outside for some reason.

Lastly you’ll have to loosen the brake cable, seat it, then tighten the brake cable to the right level.

The cable housing must be popped out at the lever. Start at the lever and work your way to the caliper and make sure everything is where it should be, then you will have the room. If it was installed already, and you didn’t change anything, then something is just popped out of place

  5. Sometimes, you can get enough space by dialing in the barrel adjuster at the lever. After the noodle is reinserted, dial the barrel adjuster back out to increase tension and bring the pads closer.
