Bonjour. You probably can’t see me right now cuz it’s very dark. Kyle’s just spoken around. Um, it’s 5:30 in the morning and I’ve got a big day today. 309 km transfer to Tuloo. But then tomorrow is the first full rest day. So, I’m looking forward to that. The car’s just getting me back light for me and my high viz vest and then I’ll be off. I’m off and it’s a bit of a cold start today, but I know I’m going to be too hot later, so I’m enjoying this while it lasts. I’ve got a few climbs to start the day. I think one of them’s over 1,000 ft to climb, but then for a 300k, it’s pretty flat with a lot of downhill. So, be nice after yesterday, but I’m looking forward to tomorrow having a day off the bike just to rest and recover and get ready for the big mountain stages that are coming up. So, yeah, I love this first part in the morning when it’s really quiet and no traffic. I always feel so much better in the morning. My energy feels good and then as the day goes on I start to wilter like a little plant that’s not been watered. So getting the first well the biggest climb of the day done first. 1,214 ft 8.4 km long. So I’m glad to get it done first. I always like to get the hardest bits done first. Then I’ve got three more bigish climbs and that’s the big climbs for today done. So let’s do this. Woohoo. like a snail. I’ve made it to the top and the sun is coming up and it’s beautiful. Kyle. Oh, shine of the light. I’ve just come down a massive descent. Really cold. And now I’ve got a really steep burner. So lactate is building in my legs and it don’t feel good. But get through the red bit and then back on the green again. Actually, this isn’t too bad. It looked worse on the graph. 9%’s the maximum gradient. So not too bad at all. Vash. Right. So, this is the last horrible climb of the day. 809 ft, 4.6 km long, but a lot of the climbing is in the first bit. So, it’s going to be a steep first bit. Get through it. Little zigzag or minus a drink. Get to the top and then the rest of the day isn’t too bad. Just got a minor road block, a big load of logs. in a really nice little pretty place. Hello, it’s Kylie. 4K. Yeah. Let’s keep going for a bit longer. You can keep going for a bit if you want. [Applause] Maybe like 5 miles. 6K. Okay. Love you. Didn’t even realize it was behind me then. This cracked up on me. The little wrapped scallion. I just came up this unwanted gravel and it’s more bumpy than it looks. Big rocks. But luckily I done some gravel riding with Laura back at home. So that prepped me well for I can see the main road there. So I’m almost at it. But I did ride it all. Before I would have walked, but I rode it. So I’m happy with that. Right. All right, I’m on the lookout for Kyle now cuz when he drove past he said 4k and I’ve done 6k but it’s always hard for him to find places to stop. And I did go off the main Oh, there he is. I can see him. What a legend. Here he is. The shining light of the scod. Right. I’m sat in the sanctuary of the scoda and K’s about to reveal my schmitt. Right. Speuette. Oh yeah. and quasel. What an older one. No, just not didn’t have any old ones. I wanted to get an old one, but it was like a They’re just fresh out. They were cuz I saw them on the trees. Yeah. And then you probably won’t want this. I probably won’t have all of this now, but you know. No, but this is for later. Yeah. And you probably won’t want this. I didn’t think you would. I think you might want what’s on top of it. So, you bought it for you. Really? No. Oh, I will have that. I love them. Yeah. Have the raspberries. You can just get the cream off and have the tart. I can’t have the cream, but you can take that off. You can have the top. You want the raspberries, though? No, you have the tart. I don’t really like raspberries. I have the raspberries. You can have the tart at the next stop. That’s what I thought. Kyle, I’ve I’ve done like over 4,000 ft of climbing. Only got 5,000 left and I’ve only got 130 mi to go. 132. 50 60 miles. So, the hardest bit of the day is ding dang dudly. Yeah. But we knew when I went through it with you last night, we knew this was worth. Oh, and the Grant Thomas podcast. Uh, what’s it called again? Yeah. Grant Thomas GTT. No, it’s called um Oh, what’s occurring? What’s occurring? They mentioned us. What the hell? Anyway, I’m going to eat this baguette now. Un baguetta. And then I’m going to crank on. I’m feeling really good today. I’m feeling really positive. Right. Do you want me to do water and you need to decide? Yes, please. Thank you. Right. I’ve got a baguette in my belly and I’m feeling good. I also ate the class on. It’s got to keep the calories going in. It’s really important to keep eating enough so I can keep going day after day. Got 50 miles now and then I’ll see Kyle again for probably another baguette. Probably I’m going to turn into a baguette by the end of this. I’ve done 15 miles since I saw Kyle. I’m just struggling a little bit. I know I can do this. No thoughts of quitting, but just feeling a little bit tired. I think because my brain knows I’ve got a rest day tomorrow. It’s kind of like wanting to rest, but no brain. You got to keep going and so have a few legs. Come on, keep pedaling. Thanks for that little backlash of wind. So yeah, I know that every ride I do, apart from yesterday. Yesterday was all just highs, I always go through like a little bit of a low, but then I’ll be happy again soon. So just riding this bit out. Good mood will come back. Trying to think positive, keep going. Just seems like there still a long way to go today, which there is. I’m trying not to focus on that. I’m just breaking it down to the meet points with Kyle. So, I’ve only got 35 mi and I meet him again. Then 40 mi. Meet him again. Then 40 mi finish. So, it’s not too bad. Keep going. Hey, look. Nice little sign. Grand Figgyak. I could do with a fig. Oh, you know what? I love like figs. Like a cake with figs in. Could have one of them. Right, I’m feeling a little bit better. I’m only 20 miles away from Kyle. I’m telling myself, I can and I will. I can and I will. I chose to do this, so can’t complain. It’s a privilege to be able to do this. Got to remind myself of that. Keep on going. I’m in a national park or something now. So what there is a lot of flies making loud noises in the trees. Sounds like grasshoppers actually or something. All the cars come when I start to film. Beautiful though. I can hear so many insects. I don’t like it. Need to put my fly cream on when I get to the car. Feel like I’m going to get bitten to death. Just plotting along. Going to heard a car behind me. It’s Kylie. Yay. I’m not far from the food stop. Oh car, there’s some cyclists coming. Do not overtake me yet. Unfortunately, my heat rash is returning. It’s got really hot. So, I’m going to have to uh I don’t know, get some aloe vera on it tonight. Five more miles. Yeah, 5 miles. Okay. Okay. Love you. Oh, I love him so much. He’s so supportive. I wouldn’t be able to do this without him. Oh, I’m at the second meet point. I’ve done 107 miles. Point the keys out. Don’t get out the car. Okay. And uh if you get out the car, I’ll leave the keys in. You won’t be able to get back in. I’m just sitting in the car for some air conduit. Don’t worry, it’s not moving anywhere. It’s got really hot out there. But I’ve got 85 or 86 miles to go. So, it’s not too bad. Just a pip in the ocean compared to what I’ve done and what I’ve got to do. So, trying to stay motivated. I am motivated, but I’m just really hot right now. I’m not very good in the heat. So, not looking forward to days to come cuz from now onwards it’s going to be hot. So, anyway, what’s Carly doing? What you doing there, Carly? Got me bread. Hey, it’s Pepe. Can’t fit yourself. Can’t fit yourself. Is it cold in there? Yeah. Have you got a big Have you Have you got anything in it? No. Bottle in it. Yeah. Wa. I don’t want all of that. Jeez. A few slices. No. No. It’s fine. Let’s break it. Have you got a knife or anything? You should break it. I think I have that for breakfast tomorrow as well. Just have a bit off the end. Thank you. So, a bit off the end karate in it. I love that. That looks perfect. Bit more. A tiny bit more. Not loads. Give it a sip. Thank you. That’s perfect. I’ll put some peanut butter on it. I’ll have that tubing in it. Yeah. That’s my breakfast tomorrow. All for snack tonight or something. Don’t have a bath on or anything? No, I’ll have a bit of me fruit cake. Thanks. I’m just put me some cream on and going to get the fly spray on. We’ve just realized that today when I get to 175 mi, I’ll be 2,000 mi in. So, when I did 1,000 mi, I stopped at exactly 1,000 milei point and it was a cross on the side of the road. So, I’m intrigued to know what will be the exact 2,000 mi. Probably just a tree. Probably will just be an insect or something. We’re talking insects. Yeah, you’ve had a little insect in there. It’s still in there. I’ve got myself a new driver. Hello, mate. Going to have to get him out of there. Not a fairy f is a little moth. Yeah, like a moth. Anyway, speaking of insects, I’m putting this stuff on. Smidge smidge off on my driver. What does that mean? Deets free de. Anyway, I was struggling a little bit for the last bit, but now that I know I’m hitting 2,000 miles today, I’m feeling better because really excited for that. And I’ve only got 135 or something like that miles today. Maybe 140. I don’t know. No, less than that. We got 85 miles. We only got 85 miles. Oh, gee with 140k. Walking the blooming park and then full rest. That song came into my head. You know that one that goes I don’t know what the music was, but Well, anyway, hopefully no flies are going to get me. Mocking my car up again. I don’t know why I bother. I gave it a quick hoover out before she stopped and a quick wipe down cuz I like to keep on top of it. Look at that. Look at this for a spot. Which one to go in? This one? Uh, non recycles. Yeah, this one. Yeah, non recycles. Yeah, right. Pepe, my little mascot. You missed him yesterday. I was going to have them with me on my bike, but I can’t. Anyway, I’m going to go now. Phone’s charged up. Oh, sorry about that. Phone’s charged up. seen two donkeys today so far. So that’s my donkey count up to 10 10 donkeys so far this trip. Um but I didn’t get them on the camera unfortunately had a nose thing on. I feel a bit sorry for it. 6,541 ft. We only got 3,000 and something left. So not very many. Feel like I’m getting eaten too much but I’m not massively sure. Definitely not. I keep having to tell Amy that she couldn’t actually physically eat enough. I think feeling like I’m going to be putting weight on. I mean, I’m struggling. I’ve been tracking my calories on my watch and I’m struggling to eat enough. So, you definitely are eating more than I’ve ever eaten. I just don’t want to, you know. Yeah, but that’s what it is, isn’t it? It’s eating competition. Keeping your body fueled up as an engine. Tell me if I put weight on. It’s an engine anyway. It’s a diesel engine. You got to keep it fueled. Cycling engine. Anyway, I’ve just eaten a load of fruit cake. So, this won’t function if I didn’t put it up, would it? No. Right. Love you then. See you in 45 miles. Love you. Goodbye. There’s a deer. I don’t know if you can see it, but a deer just ran through that field. There it is. Hello. Hello. Might not be able to see it on the camera, but if you’ve got good eyes, you’ll be able to see it. First deer I’ve seen. It’s so hot. Honestly, I’m baking up and it’s making me worried about the next few days cuz it’s only going to get hotter from here. But I will have ice vests because we’ve got like a portable freezer with us that Kyle’s going to crank up for the next few days. So, I’m not going to think about that at the minute. I’ve got a rest day tomorrow where I’ll be staying in the air conditioned apartment which I’m dreaming of right now. Current status cycling fireball hot. I don’t have a shiny where I am, but it’s really nice. Look at this little place. Panta is just having a bit of shade. Just had to stop. It’s so nice. Love the little love the little shutters and little boots on that side over there. It’s beautiful. Anyway, better crank on. It’s called St. Project. P R O J E T. It’s up there. One of the nicest little villages I’ve ever been through. It had like a church, a little chatau. So, so nice. My route just decided to try and take me on a little gravel track. So, I’m rooting round. Luckily, it’s a transfer, not a stage. So, it’s fine. Keeping on going. feel like an inferno. I’ve now got a 550 ft climb, biggest climb left of the day, and then smaller climbs after that. So, get this done, get up there, and then it won’t be long till I see Kyle again for a water top up and snap top up. So, just focusing on that. Keeping on going. Here we go. Well, it’s really nice when I go under a tree for some shade. It’s hot, but it’s a gorgeous view. Little village in the background. I can and I will get up the hot hill. That’s what I’m saying in my head as I go. Baby sunflowers. Some of them haven’t grown yet. And flash. Less than 10 miles from Kyle now. Feeling the heat. Feeling the heat rash. Oh, burn, baby. Burn. Burning my legs, burning my back, burning everything. The heat’s like radiating up from the concrete onto my legs. But it is July and it’s France, so what can I expect? It’s only going to get hotter from here. Just got to keep on going, keep on drinking, keep focusing on why I’m doing this. Keep focusing on the nice views as well. Remind myself how lucky I am to be doing this. Oh, I’m so hot. But Kyle has activated the iceer. He’s making me an ice rack. That’s going to keep me cold, isn’t it? Doesn’t even matter if it gets wet, does it? No. I don’t think it will cuz it’s waterproof though. Yeah. So, you probably have to keep it on for ages. Well, and then you’re going to you’re going to get it from me. Well, yeah. I’m going to have to I’m not going to have to go to the end now. Well, the problem is if I wear that cuz you’ve not put the proper things in, the water is going to drip down into my hood shorts and No, it’s not cuz that’s like waterproof. The inside pouches when that No, when that melts What I’m saying is they’re waterproof pouches there. Yeah, but still drip out of it for a bit. What I’m saying is I think we should use the proper pouches in it. Yeah, but you can’t do it on the go. You can’t fill up that out. Let me just chuck it in the freezer for two seconds. I just don’t think it’s a good idea to wear it with that. So, I think the water’s going to drip down if we move short. So, it’s already dripping through the water dripping through already here. That’s wet. That’s dripping down. All that water. No, I know. I really appreciate I’m trying to be horrible. I’m No, you’re just being quite rude. I’m trying to I’m just trying to avoid saddle saw cuz if I get out side of the ice jacket was it has these little pouches that go in it to like um with like fluid in that can’t come out. So we got to wait for that. Do that another day. But we’re going to put we put ice in my bottles and we’re putting doing the old crow trick which is ice in tights and that’ll go down my back and then obviously it’s going to need a little bit of ice. So then it won’t matter. Not too much cuz then it won’t get all wet in my shorts. Thank you, Be. Man off. Yeah. Let me take a picture of you with that for the memories. First ice. Yeah. I feel like should probably cut the legs off. No, just tighten a knot or something. Yeah, that would be perfect. Just put that down me back there. Whack that down me back. Oh. Oh, yeah. That’s nice. Oh, that is really nice. Right. Okay. I’m going to get going then. I’ve got 67K to go. What’s that in miles? What do you want me to do now? Go to the end or not? Yeah, you might as well go to the end right now and then maybe ride out to you. Yeah, if you’ve got time. 41 miles to go. I’ve got ice down here. Third boob. I’ve got ice down me back. Got ice in me bottles. And here’s Mr. Ice Baby. And you’ve had cold ice drink. Yeah. And we did a fail. We had a bit of a Marty moment. And we had a fail up the ice jacket. But we’re going to put the proper stuff in them, aren’t we? Yes. You were just getting grumpy at me saying it’s not going to work. I wasn’t getting grumpy. You got to try Amy. No, cuz it would have just been filled of water and then all the water would have melted down into my bib shorts and would have got saddle saw. Yeah. Well, we need to fill the proper app. Honestly, I do really appreciate everything you do when you do that. I really, really appreciate it. Right. 41 miles to go. Let’s do this. 1,600 ft to climb. Not very much. There’s a man coming out to see me or something riding the bike. Have you? Why? All right. All right then. Love you then. Right. I’ve got ice down my back. I’ve just had a very very quick cry but I’m okay. Just got a bit too hot and bothered. No doubts that I can do this. I’m just feeling a bit tired I think. Bit emotional. It’s a lot but I’m going to do it. So really really like tiny ride really compared to what I normally do left. 40 miles. That’s nothing. It’s piping the ocean. So come on Amy, keep going. K’s coming past. I love you. Get that dinner ready. Let shake. He’s driving to Tuloo now to the accommodation. Bless him. He’s such like he’s the best husband ever. I love him so much. Wouldn’t be able to do this without him. So, bye, Kylie. I love the sunflowers so much. I don’t know what it is about the sunflower fields, but I love them. They mesmerize me. Anyway, I’ve only got 29 Maloney to go. Less than a club ride. Feeling good again. Feeling motivated. Had a little blip, but I’m all good now. The end of the day is in sight. Let’s do this. Hopefully, I’m not going to wilt like those better days. Right. Well, I’m officially at the 2,000 mile mark. And unlike the 1,000 mi where there’s a lovely stone cross, we’ve got bins. We’ve got some dead sunflowers. So, I don’t know what that’s a sign of, but 2,000 miles down. So, I’m happy. And this lovely fella has come out to meet me and ride with me. Um, lives in France, but originally from Scotland. They could teach you some French, actually. That’ be I do actually need some. Me and Kyle are really bad. But there’s also this sign. What did you say that meant? It means the dead end of Pleasure Hill. Basically, the dead end of Pleasure Hill. Oh, great. So, that means the pleasure’s over. It’s time for the hard stuff, I guess. To be fair, that’s probably true cuz we’ve got the mountains coming and the heat. So, right, let’s crank on. Well, we’re in the outskirts of Tuloo. So, we’re nearly there. Nearly made it. Hallelujah. We’re just on a nice little cycle path. What a legend coming out to see me. Got me through the last bit, chatting away. So, that’s been really nice. Nearly there. We’re riding through Tuloo now. And Kylie is here. He came out to surprise us. Nearly there. Nearly ding-dang done. So, ready to finish now. Oh, we’re less than half a mile now from where we’re staying. All that time ago this morning, setting off in the dark, but I’d never blooming get here at one point. But Tuloo, we’re here and apparently it’s known as the pink city because the bricks are like a pink color, especially at night or something when certain lights on them. So, my bike will get some attention here. She’s in her hometown. Sweet holly pine cones. Oh, air con. I turned it right down. Oh, that is like a kiss from heaven. If there’s a god, he put that there for me. The air con conversion. God actually turned air conversion. Air con unit. This is it. This is nice gold plumbing. Gold leaf. Very nice. You better shut this door as naps will come in. I need to take my bike in. Right. I’m going to have a shower and then I’ll do the ride starts because that’s not a good place to put my bike. No, I’ll keep my back over here. We’re here for two nights. The first and only place. We’re here for two nights because tomorrow you Sorry. You mean move the chair? Because we’re here tonight and then tomorrow we’ve got a rest day. So, we’re here tomorrow night. Yeah. I’ll put my bike over here. I don’t want to scratch anything. Here you are then. Can you put it over there for me? Thank you so much. So, I just want to see what the shower’s like. Oh. Oh, yeah. Big shower. Where’s the light? Oh yeah, that’s going to rain. That’s going to rain fall down and wash my sweat off. So, back in a minute with the ride stats. Well, that’s my day ding dang done with a lovely meal served by Kyle and it’s time for the ride stats. I did 191.01 miles, which is 307.4 km. Knocked actually a few kilometers off when I went around the gravel. I went up 11,280 ft, which is actually 2,000 ft more than I was told for, which is 3,438.14 m. My bum was in the saddle for 12 hours and 38 minutes and averaged 12.1 mph. And the temperature today, 12.1, sorry, not 12.1, 15.1 miles an hour. And the temperature today was 32°, but it felt a lot hotter than that cuz it was radiating off the concrete and onto me. I’ve got really bad heat rash on my leg. Do you want to see? Probably don’t, but don’t know if you can see that on the camera, but that’s heat rash. Rashy. I don’t think you can see cuz it’s mixture of tile and heat rash. It’s very bad rash. Anyway, um I’m feeling good. Had a few moments today, but I got through them with the help of Kyle. I’ve washed my hair. I feel like a new woman, and I’m going to watch the tour now. Catch up on that. Today is the 8th of July to Kyle. Mhm. And in a week’s time on the 15th of July, the pros will be having a rest day transferring to here. And I’m having my rest day tomorrow. But yeah, I’m just looking forward to that. Going to slip and sleep somewhere now. I’ll see you tomorrow. Can’t add anything. DS is probably going to shave my pins tomorrow. Ready for the mountains. See, I do cycle proof tell. Yeah. Um, oh, let me just go through some of you. Oh, one minute. Now, what? No, I’ve got to do my DSM duties for tomorrow. DSM duties then director sportive. What does it say? Director, actually. Um, so tomorrow. Oh, it’s not looking good. Oh, look at that. Well done for dealing with Amy all this time. I actually wrote that. Make sure you rest, too. Bad chance that cuz I’ve got a busy day tomorrow. No, you need to rest. Let me Don’t let Amy start checking emails and replying to lots of messages. Recovery time. I’ve already started replying to emails. Sorry. Cafe lunch and bakers. Yes. I’m going to confiscate your phone. So, yeah, that’s the plan for tomorrow. Can you just read me out the rest of the mileage for every day? 159. Yeah. 146. Yeah. Easy. 112. Yeah. 129. 146. 154. Half rest day 40 miles. Yes. 114 my birthday. 172. Yeah. But how many? 172. Yeah. How much elevation in that one? 172. Yeah. Uh 7,000 ft. Oh, that’s Yeah. Flat 118. How you got elevation? How much? That’s the 20,000 ft. 20,000 ft. 137. How much elevation? Yeah, two mountain sage back to back. Yeah, about 17,000. Great. 148. Yep. 98. Yeah. 173. And then the finale. What’s that? 207. And that’s it. Oh, and then nothing. Okay. So, basically, we’ve got a long way to go. Yeah. But a lot of them don’t even look that bad, do they? compared to what you just done. But I hit 2,000 miles today. I’ve now done 2,5 miles and I don’t want a closeup of my spot. But anyway, we are going to film the rest day so we can see what Car’s getting up to on his rest day. Busy man on rest day. No, you do need to rest day. Yes, come get rest days. We’re going to have a lion. Yeah, going to have a lion. I’m going to recover a little bit, but I’ve got stuff to do. Important stuff. You can sign out cuz I don’t want to put my spots close up. Thanks so much for watching. Torch.

  1. Huge respect, Amy! 💪🏽🚴🏽‍♂️
2000 miles down! Hope you've enjoyed your rest day today.
    Top man Kyle! 👏🏼
    Terrific Teamwork. 🎯💥👌🏼

  2. Amy, 2,000 miles down c’est incroyable! And you keep getting stronger:-) ps, i agree with Kyle on the calories, like all tour riders, you’re still running a caloric deficit nearly every day, so you’re not going to start gaining weight and dang those raspberries looked insane!

  3. What legends you are! 2000 miles 🤯 Enjoy your rest day!

I always use a buffy scarf/tube/thingy cloth that you can twist into a cap and pour water on it. Helps keeping the head cool. Maybe worth considering when it gets really hot in the mountains and you don't get much airflow.
