I’m travelling to Bamberg, a Bavarian city with a long history. It was once even its own country, led by a bishop. The most stunning sight for me was the Old Town Hall, which combines a half-timbered house with Baroque architecture. The New Residence and the Cathedral at the top are also not to be missed.

The Old Town Hall is amazing and a must to visit and photograph whenever we have visited Bamberg. We have been several times including at Christmas. THe wall paintings on the Old town Hall are amazing. The Cathedral and the Bamberger Reiter is a wonderful building as is the Bishops Palace across the way. Glad you found the Rose Garden. As you remarked, Bamberg is best explored on foot. There are some wonderful places nearby, we were in Nurnberg last week!
