Been looking to get into gravel cycling on a rail trail 2-3 days a week nothing crazy probably 10 miles a ride. And found a guy by me that “builds” them is this a deal?
More close to $ 75,-. Is ancient bike and value new was ‘el cheapo’ too….

Not a chance. Maybe $200
Low grade components, not a brand known for cyclocross bikes. Keep looking

Probably wasnt 575 even new

I do think so. Rim brakes, and the Sora shifter design looks pretty old. A brand new Kona Rove isn’t much more than that. I would pay 300 for this personally.
Any upgrades you did on this would barely get it to a brand new low end gravel bike-disc brakes, 1x or even 2x shifting, you would need new wheels for disc brakes too.

absolutely NOT!
I’d personally pay $200 or lower for this
Keep looking OP

It’s from Bikes Direct and probably didn’t sell for that new. Looks like a few upgrades, but they didn’t upgrade very far. Those levers have to be from 20 years ago, old Sora.

That’s a Bikesdirect bike.
Add a decimal point.

Absolutely not worth $575 USD.. maybe some other currency.
Sora 3400 derailleur is from 2008-2012 period. Canti brakes are obsolete now that everything is running disc brakes (they are fine, for the right price). It’s a Bike’s Direct bike that is likely 15+ years old. If it were in mint condition, then maybe $200 is justified but the asking price is probably what the thing costs when new. Look elsewhere. You could buy something from BikesDirect for maybe $100 more with disc brakes and modern components and never ridden and have the same quality of bike otherwise. I would not buy this nor recommend it.

Thanks for all the feed back everybody, I’ve been trying to find a used deal but nothing seems worth it. I will just nut up and buy a canyon grizl or a trek checkpoint. Nothing used worth a damn near me within 200 miles

i got a similarly aged cx bike with carbon stem and bars, carbon fork, mavic rims, trp euro brakes, carbon seat post, carbon fsa cranks and a mix-matched groupset with dura ace 7801 levers for 150€. It was a steal but i would def not pay 560 for that bike

If that’s your price range, try and get an Ozark Trail G1 explorer. They’re not terrible for $290 for what you’re describing. Especially if you’re just dipping your toes in. I read somewhere that the newest variant has an aluminum fork, lighter stem, and the rear wheel has a cassette instead of a freewheel.
Otherwise, I see the old version on marketplace for like $150; which is also fine, just kinda heavy. I’ve forced my buddy on his, the older version, who’s a relatively beginner rider, to follow me on 30mi + trails, some of which were pretty gnarly. So it keeps up, in my opinion.
And if you feel like you really like gravel riding and want you upgrade your ride, just sell it and you’ll recoup half your investment.
