Sharp metal object punctured my tire. The hole is about 1mm. Tire is a continental gp5000 clincher. If I replace the tube would the tire still be ok to use for the time being at least?
i should think so. people get punctures through their tyre all the time. thorns, etc.

Replace the tube and you will be fine

its not that big and not in the side wall so it should be fine

You can try putting a tube patch on the inside of the tire to strengthen it

Yup. It will be fine. Some people would put glue in the hole or tyre boot. If it was my tyre I wouldn’t stress about it and probably not bother as unlikely to puncture in the same place because of the hole.

It should be fine as long as you pull out the wire. I don’t think it will help to keep it there. 🙂

With tubes it should be fine …if the hole is big enough to herniate the tube you will want to patch the tire from the inside. Even the littler butyl patches will help cover the hole so the tube doesn’t push through

Probably fine. I’d keep an eye on the tire and watch for bulging after putting a new tube in and riding around a bit if you’re worried about it.

Yes. Judging from the wear and tear of the tire you might need to replace sometime soon, but no rush.

Yes. I once had a horse shoe nail go through my gravel kings. I put some gaffer’s tape on the inside, rubbed a little super glue around the edges for good measure and I still use the tire today.

+1 for patching the inside if you wanna be cautious. While your at it get some pics and clean the tyre of all debris after a big ride or once a week or whatever suits your schedule. Its amazing what your tyres will harbor that will eventually creep through them as you roll along
