I have a Felt AR1. I’m not sure what this means by replica. I would inquire more about it before purchasing. What makes it a replica?

  2. Maybe they bought the frame and put in the components themselves.

Regardless, I would check with the seller.

Counterfeit bikes exist and are common, and they’re the bikes that are typically referred to as “replicas”, but honestly I didn’t even know anyone made counterfeit Felts. They’re not the most desirable, prestigious road bikes in the world.

Regardless, I would not pay this much for this bike even if it’s genuine.

Sounds like they mean a frame-up build. I would actually love a bike like this for climbing. It’s probably really light. That era Red groupset is hard to find and $$ when you do. If it was my size and the frame was legit I’d happily go $2k for it.

  5. My guess is that is a standard AR frame not the FRD (Felt Racing Department) AR frame that was used for the AR1 hence the replica tag. Just do a google image search for 2016 Felt AR1 and 2016 Felt AR2.

How much would personally pay for it? You are looking at 9 year old rim braked aero bike, it is a buyers market. I bought a hardly used (still on it’s first chain) 2017 Giant Propel SL (Giant’s version of the FRD), 2 years ago for about 1300 GBP at today’s exchange rate.

“Replica” is a weird term here I’m assuming the ad was written by a non-native english speaker.

If it’s a legit Felt AR, I’d value the frame at maybe $300 and then add in the price of components.

I had one of these bikes with DI2. It was super fast, possibly the most aero bike in it’s day. You know it was quick because it was always a close second in every white paper the other bike companies put out to talk about how aero their new bike was.

The rear brake doesn’t do anything.

  7. It looks like an open mold frame, this is a similar [AR1](https://elevatecycling.com/products/51cm-felt-ar1-carbon-aero-rim-brake-road-frameset-ar-2) that seems to be authentic. The frame is from the early 2010s.

I don’t like what this seller is doing at all. They are being very cagey about the frame. I have half a mind about reporting the listing to eBay.

Value £150-200 for the frame + the value of the Sram Red. The group set is valuable in the UK, popular with Hill climbers because it is the lightest production group set.

  8. If you buy it, it better fit. I bought a Ridley of that era and those integrated seat posts are a very different option. I sold it to a guy wanting to race – had mechanical Dura Ace and regular rear brakes. Paid $900.
