Motorhomes and vans costs are higher.

So they ditch bikes and increase their profit.

They don’t care about people, just money.

What do the smaller letters on the announcement say? I can’t read them in the picture.

Sad to see that the campsite isn’t welcoming to cyclists anymore! Also, weird. Cyclists and their small tents take up so little space.

When we went on a bike tour on the Vennbahn (very popular bike route), we visited some campings that seemed to favor cyclists with tents. They would just have a field of grass without marked reservations/places, and even if it was busy you would still be able to cram your tent in there between all of the other small tents.

And when I went on a bike tour with my parents as a kid, we even camped at marinas and camper parkings – they seemed to always have some little spot of grass for a family with 2 exhausted kids.

Here in America, we call that discrimination and it’s very popular right now

Can you write what it says on the pic OP. It’s not readable on my phone

Haven’t seen too many doing that fortunately. But yeah the alternative is wildcamping – even if forbidden it always works.

  6. “Information for cyclist

Please note the campsite is not loger able to welcome cyclist

    – All relevant information regarding our terms os stay is avaliable ir our website

    – To avoid an unnecessary trio, we kindly ask that you do not proceed to the reception

    – Thank you for your understanding and we wish you a pleasant journey ahead”

Read it fine. I do this all the time.

Really sucks. Assume that also means they’re not accommodating tent campers of any kind? I guess car-tent camping not as common there? Surprised they’ve called out bikes explicitly.

It’s sad but honestly, fuck most campsite owners. I’m so sick of being treated like a second class citizen, banished to the furthest corner of the site, miles away from the facilities and being asked to pay almost as much as a campervan,/ caravan. I’ve regularly paid little more and sometimes even less to stay in a hostel dorm in a major city than for a run-down campsite. No wonder that I choose to wild camp whenever possible.

pitch your tent just outside their entrance if they don’t want your money

  10. Usually the discrimination comes in the form of a very expensive site way at the back, near the highway and as far from the toilets as possible.

  11. In France type « camping municipal » on google maps. It’s only the camping that are held by the city, they’re not here to make money, they’re really cheap and I’ve never seen one refusing cyclists
