another brutal final today against the pool and pagotch. How do you look back on today? Oh, well it was a a brutal final. It was a lot of uh small climbs in the end and uh I mean I can be happy with how uh how I felt, how I did, how the team did. So uh once again I think uh when it comes down to a sprint like this uh I think I can be happy with third. Obviously, I was closer today for the for the second place. So, uh it’s a pity that that I couldn’t take the the second place. What can you say about the climb? Because you were ahead with Pagotch at some point. You you kind of dropped look behind you. Uh yeah. Uh I think with 50 m to go off the climb, I uh was just too high the pace, but then I saw that it was also too high for Bugattach, so he had to slow down and then uh I got my together and uh close the gap again. Got to be careful because you’re going going to be in the fumes of the bus. Um, one more thing. Did you gain confidence today? I mean, you’re also looking forward to tomorrow time trial. Do you think you can take the yellow tomorrow? Oh, I mean, uh, I take it day by day. Uh, obviously I’m I’m happy about how things went today. So, uh, now on to tomorrow. Uh, I’ll just try to do as good a time trial as possible and then we’ll see afterwards. It’s only 8 seconds. It’s only 8 seconds. Everything can happen. Uh can also be that the that Fenderpool or or Pugachar or or somebody else is doing a a really good time trial and uh yeah, you never know. What were the attack what were the tactics with Matteo out there? The tactics with Matteo, what were the Yeah, I mean uh Matteo went there. Uh that was actually also our plan to that if uh if we were there with two then he could attack and uh I was really hoping that he could make it but uh yeah unfortunately not. Jonas, you really seem to have your kick now. You showed that on that steep 15% gradient. Yeah, I mean I’ve I’ve said it already a few times that I feel like I’m more explosive now. And uh to be honest also the on the climb there I think I showed it. I think it was probably my best ever one minute performance. So, so yeah, I think uh shape is good and and I’m looking forward to the next days. Good stuff. Okay, thank you. All at once. Okay. Hell of a day, man. You uh you led Pog right in to where he needed to go and get that stage victory. What does it mean? Yeah, I mean I think we did a really good job today. Personally, I was not in the best position like 30k to go. There was a crash. Then it was just hard to come back. I kept fighting because I need a I knew what I had to do. I think I did a really good job and I think we deserve the victory today. What do you think about Ted’s attack on that final climb with 15% trying to distance Yonas? I mean that’s the only way for us to make the race hard, you know. Also against Matthew, we had to make him tired. So yeah, I think it went perfect. Time on Raglitch is perfect. I don’t even know. So it doesn’t matter. And a clever move by you there to to maybe wait for T and not lead out uh Vanderpool. That was a goal to do make a lead out into the last corner. He was not on my wheel, but I saw he was behind Matthew. So was uh was perfect. Was indeed. Congratulations. Good job then.

  1. If Jonas keeps this up I might become a fan! Attacking riding and showing his personality in the interviews. He is taking a page from the book of Pog.

  2. Pogi will have to be very very careful. Vingegaard is a tactical genius and he loves those steep climbs. His endurance is unreal in the last week of the tour and everyone knows it

  3. Just watching the TDF documentary on Netflix, despite his brilliance TP comes across quite arrogant and at times disrespectful in regards to his comments towards JV. What TP needs to realise is that as yet he’s never had a huge life threatening crash that would abruptly halt his shining career. To make wry comments with a a smug look on his face is not really called for from a young man with such a phenomenal talent.
