Keeping twist shifters is an act of rebellion which I would applaud. Hating on twist shifters is so cliche.

That the whole industry pushed that narrow NORBA XC racing straightbar cockpit for almost a decade straight is absolutely diabolical.
Probably still fun as heck for aggressively shredding tight wooded Wisconsin trails if you’re tall enough for the saddle to be >4” over French Fit.
It looks like it’s in new enough condition that you may as well just add fenders and ride otherwise as-is till the shifters start misbehaving enough that you actually *have to* get some fresh triggers on there.
