Cycling From Cardiff to Swansea in 1 Day

Yes, guys. Welcome back to another adventure on the channel. This week, I got Ume joining me again and we’re going to be going from Cardiff Castle all the way to Swansea Observatory. Let’s see if we make it and come along with us for the ride. On this journey again, we’ll be using the Hitway BK17. The same bike that got us to Liverpool now hopefully can get us to Swansea. Let’s get it, guys. Set time. Beautiful day. Let’s hope it stays like this. For first, we had to pop to a camera store as I was having problems with my mic and Ume was missing a part from his camera. A great start to the day. Oh y they got a part. I’m just going to try to see if my mic will connect by Bluetooth. If not, you’re going to chill here. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Let me see if I can connect my mic Bluetooth. If not, I need to buy my bar. Watch the bike. All right. Now, we’ve had our customary little detour. We fix all the problems as soon as we start. We’re actually getting on our way to now in the new little microphone. Hopefully I won’t have any issues with that one like the last one and we can get on our way now. I had it on pedal assist one. Yeah. And it gives me up to 5 miles. But that will assist. Yeah. And it was just comfy. So yeah, fine. At least at least I’m giving you something. Yeah. You were able to enjoy it when I was literally pedaling those first 10 miles last time. It’s cuz I didn’t know my range. We’d never done it before. But the thing is that your range is way more than mine. Yeah, cuz it’s it’s I think you get like 150 kilometers. Yeah, but it’s in the back end though. It’s in the end of the battery. So, I saw it going down to like cuz two two bars is a warrior on my bike. Two bars is not being taken down. So, I didn’t know that. I would just see it dip through five, four, three, and I’m like I’m ruined. It’s going. Oh yeah, you keep going. Yeah, cuz I think the the second two ws the other battery. I was looking at the spec on your W. Yeah, your motor is 500 W. Is it? Yeah. It’s obviously that’s why you get up to 20 mph when you unrestricted. Yeah, because um but then how is it how is it legal then if it’s because they restricted it to 15 miles hour and you figure out a cheat code. So they they don’t they but they put the cheat code and the cheat code is holding plus and minus. Let’s go on the bus line. Is it all right? All right. Back by the castle. So now we’re actually officially starting up. Gorgeous castle. Let’s get to Swansea. We get to turn the bikes on, guys. Go full pedal assist. See how far we can get before we have to charge. Let’s go. [Music] Hey, [Music] hey, hey. [Music] Well, compared to last time, I actually tried to pedal this without any assist. Oh, yeah. That was so long. This piece. Yeah. And the thing that I was training was, we were thinking this is going to be the whole way to live. Pro. We’re going to be dragging this bike to Yeah. We’re going to have to do 10 miles of this every day to make sure the range works. But we underestimated the bikes. [Music] Well, Google Maps is apparently just trying to spin us around and waste our battery, but we’re actually going a bit of a different way to the way we took the task trail last time. So, hopefully see some new stuff. And for now, just going down this little muddy path. Look at this. [ __ ] beautiful. This the unexpected things you see on the journey. Look. Well, we can make a life for ourselves under here. This could be a good place for the fishing camping. Little fishing camp. Sure you can catch fishing. [ __ ] Why the [ __ ] am I pushing my bike? You got Oh, this is very bumpy. Oh, my poor bottom. Oh. Oh, that is Google Maps is taking us off the beaten track. We were going the same way as we went last time. They’re like, “No, let’s spice it up for them.” And it’s proper dense forest. There’s sticking nettles everywhere. I wish I wore trousers. Oh my goodness. We are going straight. Oh [ __ ] Straight. Straight through the middle. Just follow your heart, bro. If you follow your heart, you’ll always be in the correct place. This is [ __ ] Where the [ __ ] are we? Straight. Straight. You can never say I don’t take you places. At this point, we ran into Damo, a fellow ebike enthusiast who was showing us off his converted mountain bike and he wanted to race. Come on, boys. Oh, you’re going to smoke us. They’re limited at the moment. 15. It’s minor. We go. Yeah. Yeah. We’re straight down here for a while. Going to run throttle as well. No pedal, man. Yeah. Yeah. Go, bro. Oh, he’s gone. Oh, that thing’s gone. What’s the top speed going on that [ __ ] off? Yeah. Oh, he said he can go [ __ ] He said he can go 50 miles an hour on that. Little bit uphill, guys. I bet somewhere struggling right now just behind hopefully no one to get off the downhills. Uphills and downhills hand in hand. Norway. These roads are a bit mad. So, we got a bit of friendly advice. Guy drove past us in a van. Said take a left instead of following our map. So, taking the left. Hopefully, it’s quiet. Looks like the advice those guys gave us [ __ ] spot on, guys. Back in the country. Oh no, guys. Another crossing. You know the issues we had. Heat. Heat. [Music] [Applause] [Music] I think it’s an old church. Crazy ruins. That’s like if you threw a picture of what you expected ruins to look like back in country lanes. The home of the bike packer. Much better than those bloody a roads you are. This is not nice to go down. Every two seconds you’re worried the car’s going to come in front of you. It’s a much more comfortable place to be. Six more miles to go till we stop to lunch. [Music] So, we’re here now. We need to try to get some food. Oh, it’s too late now. But something to keep us going. Um, excuse me, mate. You don’t know any like sit down restaurants anywhere we could get some food and like charge the bikes up. Only takeaways cuz we’re looking for some we can sit down, charge the bikes as well. What? two of the restaurants today. They both closed, I think, cuz we Chinese let us ride the bikes. What do you let us ride some bikes? We buy some food. Yeah. Just down there. Oh, wicked. We’ll pop down Chinese. Yeah. Prince Balty Indian takeaway. It’s all takeaways. Yeah. I mean, Prince Balty, what’s this? Indian. Yeah. This one is just a take we got in someone’s house. That’s what I mean. I think some of these takeways are literally people’s houses. Let’s go on the main road and ask. You’re going to say no. They say no. Is this closed? The one behind you? Yeah, that one’s closed. The only one that’s open is that one. What is that? Let’s keep going. Yeah, we can just keep going. I’m starving, but we can. I mean, I’m still on two bars. Yeah, I’ve got 40%. Okay, we keep going. We’ll find somewhere better than this. Got to be. You can’t sit down and have some. I don’t think we’re finding anywhere right now. We are at right now in the local areas. All of them going to be shut. Caf restaurants might start opening up here. Definitely more miles. [Music] Hi. Yeah. Um, we’re on a cycle trip from Cardiff to Swansea and we were wondering if we came in, had some food and some drinks and stuff, we’d be able to charge our bikes for a little bit. Yeah. Oh, yeah. It should be fine. We’re not certain people are safe though. No worries. We can have a bit of drink. If we pop the bikes into the side though, so no, cuz I don’t really have If you want to bring them around our back, we’ve got um a little beer garden and be more secure. So, it is a bit of a ramp. So, if you go around there, we can nice It’s about 5:00. It’s about 5:00. By the time we finish charging, they’re going to be saving food. We’ve managed to find a place to charge at least, guys. Found a nice little pub. Lovely, lovely lady inside. So, we can come in and charge. So, we’ll see. Let’s see how long we are. Maybe we save for food. Maybe not. We’ll see what time allows. Oh, amazing. Thank you. We’ve made it in, guys. We managed to get some custom peanuts and get the get the batteries charged. So hopefully a bit more charge. We can get the last bit of the way for now. We just sit, wait, nice bike, some snacks, and go. [Music] Yes, guys. Just been in the fory arms. Absolutely lovely people in there. Let’s charge up. Yeah, the black one’s taking a break from filming the Lloyd’s TSB adverts. Well, it’s not the same. Of course it is. There’s only one black horse in the world, bro. And he works for Lloyds. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Everyone knows that. Everyone knows that detour to stop and see the horses. Now we can go. The horses are saying well behind you though. [Music] We had now reached the outskirts of Swansea. All we had to do was make it through the city center unscathed and we could get down to the bay and finally get to the observatory. Look at this guys. Swansea, as Dylan Thomas famously said, the graveyard of ambition. We’ve made it guys. Let’s see if we can get through now. Get to the rest of Swansea. Get to the third. [Music] Heat. Hey, heat. Hey, heat. [Music] All right, guys. We’ve made it down to Swansea Bay. Swansea Beach. Around the corner is the observatory. We’ve made it. I was trying to think of when we started this journey, we were in Cardiff Castle, probably the grandest, oldest building in Cardiff, and I wanted to find a similarly grand building in Swansea. There wasn’t one, but I’ve I’ve always loved this place by the beach. It’s a beautifully old building. There’s just some stunning scenes. [Music] [Music] Guys, we did it. Me and Umare managed to take these two bikes all the way from Cardiff to Swansea. And we’re in front of the observatory at sunset enjoying the beautiful scenes.
