Bought this Trek 2100 ZR 58cm CT Aluminum & OCLV Carbon Road Bike for $200. Going to have to get new tires, not sure about a whole new wheel set. Really looking to just fix the bike up and make it as durable as possible to have as a beater training bike. Is there any risk with it being pretty old ? (2006ish?)

You were not robbed. You received a nearly 30 year old bike for your money.
No idea why a new wheelset would be needed.
You can find quality fast rolling tires for under $40 each.
