Hey,
After 2000km and carefully installation of my new Aeroad from Dezember 24 I have had some issues with my seatpost. It started to crack and squeak and a have to clean it quite often. Yesterday I want to clean everything and renew the carbon grease, and I discovered, what you see on the picture. This is pretty disappointing for me and when this is going on, my seatpost will be eaten in the next month. What’s going on here??

This is a permanent fix for your issue. It’s up to you whether or not you implement it. Get rid of the grip paste and anything else that is eating away at your carbon fiber. Go and get a duvet. Or a pillow. Throw away the pillow or the duvet, or don’t it’s up to you but what you’re looking for is the plastic bag it comes in. It’s made of a very special type of sticky and thick and very pliable plastic. Cut a hole the size of your seat post where it actually meets the frame so is that your seat post is covered in the plastic inside of the frame and then lock it down using the recommended torque specifications of course. Your seat will no longer move. The grip paste basically has glass in it. I know I’m being stupidly reductive. But essentially grip paste is something that sticks into the carbon when you put two pieces of carbon together. Eventually, it’s going to damage the carbon. Especially when your seat post doesn’t fit right. Tell me all about it canyon. This is not my first rodeo. This was not my idea. Trace Vello on YouTube. It worked the first time I tried it. Seven Bikes later still works great. Of course I have had to buy a few pillows.

Seems like carbon grease just did its work there. It may also happen that you tighten the screw to much? I dont use canyons carbon grease – since it never really worked for me (seatpost slipping..)
Anyways, i dont think this is a big issue lol. Its carbon and still pretty robust.
