The fastest tire on all types of gravel is… a 60 mm slick. 📊

Schwalbe G-One Speed PRO 29 x 2.35 off road rolling resistance test results. 😳

In December of 2024, Alex Hunt published an article over at Escape Collective titled “Beach racing may be the source of future gravel tech.” Earlier in 2024, Schwalbe updated their 29 x 2.35 G One Speed tire to its fastest casing and compound in the new PRO version and reported it was the fastest tire ever tested in their lab.

By the way, the G Ones I tested use the Addix Race compound and the Race Pro / Race Guard casing…an interesting combo also present on Schwalbe’s new Pro One Aero 700 x 28 road tire! There are multiple G One Speed options, but this particular go fast combo only comes on the biggest one, intended for beach racing.

I was aware of them, but was too worried about flatting them somewhere or having no usable traction to test them outdoors in my usual areas. My curiosity got the better of me, and I tested a set on my 29 mm internal width Kovee RSLs, which ended up with a 60 mm wide tire. As you can see from the results these things are absolutely insane…no other way to put it!

Clean sweep of every gravel category AND I haven’t destroyed them yet, even with pushing it some on some really rough tracks. I even backed up the Cat 3 results on an alternate Cat 3 gravel track I have that so far, identical in CRR to my normal one but easier to test on and drains moisture better. 🙏

As far as the rather obvious puncture and traction concerns, I don’t know yet. Use at your own discretion…they feel a bit sketchy cornering at speed, but that didn’t surprise me. 🤷‍♂️

All results are from my own Chung Method / Virtual Elevation testing off road as usual.
